At 9AM EST today somebody abused a bug in Payment Processor V2 to steal 10 Meebits, 50 Otherdeeds, 10 WoW, and 235 Desperate Apewives. It wasn't until over 12 hours later that somebody reported it to me, and upon digging in I realized that a great many NFTs were subject to the same exploit. I got in touch with the team over at LimitBreak and they quickly paused Payment Processor V3, which was subject to the same exploit. Unfortunately, V2 was not pausable, so the only path towards protecting affected assets was to run a whitehat operation. Similarly, V3 on ApeChain is temporarily in a state where it cannot be paused, so ApeChain assets approved to V3 needed to be saved as well. All in all, we rescued 23,155 NFTs worth north of $5.7M USD. We later discovered that a similar exploit could be used in reverse to steal WETH. 660 WETH was at risk, which we unfortunately were not fast enough to recover. Apologies to those affected. Shout out to @Boomskite for flagging the initial exploit tx to me, and @coffeedev @0xjustadev and @whiteoakkong for acting quickly and assisting with the recovery. All NFTs are safely relocated. Soon, owners will be able claim them back after revoking the exploitable approvals. Addresses to revoke below.

Alright, rabbit hole #2… WTF is StockFi? 😂📈 I kept seeing this term while digging into StonkBrokers, so I wanted to actually understand what it means. The simplest explanation I’ve found: TradFi assets + DeFi infrastructure = StockFi Think about a stock in a normal brokerage account. Traditionally, that asset lives inside a pretty closed financial system. Now enter Stock Tokens. Robinhood Stock Tokens are ERC-20 tokens that provide economic exposure to underlying stocks and ETFs. And because they’re ERC-20s, developers can actually build on top of them. That opens the door to things like: → Trading → Liquidity pools → Lending / collateral → Automated strategies → Options → Other DeFi applications And THIS is where StonkBrokers started making a lot more sense to me. They’re not just putting NFTs onchain. They’re building financial products around this new onchain asset layer. Stock Tokens become the financial building blocks. DeFi becomes the infrastructure. And StonkBrokers builds different ways to interact with those building blocks. That’s StockFi. At least that’s how I’m starting to understand it. 😂 The deeper I go, the more interesting this gets. Alright, rabbit hole #1… WTF is StonkBrokers actually building? 😂📈 Before I got my Intern and started digging deeper, I mostly knew about the NFTs, Stock Tokens and Clock In. But I was missing the bigger picture. The easiest way I’ve found to understand it: StonkBrokers has built an entire onchain financial ecosystem around StockFi. And once you start looking under the hood, there’s A LOT going on: 📈 Stock Tokens ⏰ Clock In 💧 Liquidity / LP strategies 🏦 Lending 🔄 NFT markets & market making 🚀 Token launches 🔒 Liquidity locks 📊 Options / leverage 🧑‍💼 Stonk Interns And these aren’t just ideas on a roadmap, these are products and mechanics you can actually interact with today. That’s the part I didn’t fully understand before going down this rabbit hole. I originally looked at StonkBrokers primarily through the NFT lens. Now I’m starting to see the NFTs as just one piece of a much larger financial ecosystem connecting: NFTs + Stock Tokens + DeFi. And THAT is what I want to understand. Where does the money flow? Where does the yield come from? What role does each product play? And how does everything connect? That’s what I’ll be documenting as I learn it.
