I think it's an impossible to escape fact that every character would have less hardcore and dedicated fans if they weren't attractive.
It's very rare to see anyone going to bat for a character who's incredibly ugly.
Would Shigaraki or Dabi still be popular and loved, with a fanbase that praises their writing, and "justifies" their actions, if they WEREN'T conventionally attractive?

I agree that dressing up as an abuser and his victim for Halloween is weird and tasteless but why are we acting like this is a new thing?
I feel like this has been a reoccurring topic entirely on people doing Joker and Harley costumes.
