Wasn’t Cameron’s “Titanic” actually a twin? But then turned out to be so godtier that the rival/brother movie was forgotten forever?
I saw a lot of this in the 1990s and 2000s with what are called "twin films" - which are two studios competing to release very similar movies to capture audiences they feared their competitors would win by being either first to market or alone in the market. 1993/94 - TOMBSTONE versus WYATT EARP. 1997 - DANTE'S PEAK versus VOLCANO 1998 - ANTZ versus A BUG'S LIFE. 2000 - MISSION TO MARS versus RED PLANET 2003 - FINDING NEMO versus SHARK TALE. 2005/06 - CAPOTE versus INFAMOUS. 2006 - THE ILLUSIONIST versus THE PRESTIGE. 2009 - PAUL BLART: MALL COP versus OBSERVE AND REPORT. We also see it today in Warner Brothers trying to copy the success of the interconnected MCU by building - so far unfruitfully - a similar DC film universe.

I think about this on an outside the church/inside the church basis. Inside the church, I absolutely have to stand for a Christian moral ethics and hold others in the church to that ethic. In those cases, we will have to challenge those identities/ideologies for those who proclaim Christ, for those identities are idols. My critiques of the right today is about that: what I believe to be the church’s abandonment of a Christian ethic for political power. When it comes to those outside of the church, I cannot think of a time that I had to affirm or disapprove of anybody’s ideology/identity to love them. If they don’t trust Christ, they’re not regenerate, they’re not going to care about what a “biblical” view of their life is about. So I can’t expect them to live/approve of what I (rightly) believe is wrong in their life. Unless they specifically ask me, I am not compelled to speak into those things. Essentially, my view on this is formed a lot by 1 Cor 5:9-13. Believers? I’m absolutely going to talk about a Christian ethic? Outsiders? I’m going to love them and give them Jesus. I’ll trust the Word and Spirit to sanctify them once they come to Jesus. Until then, I can trust in God’s justice to handle whatever they believe or do that is of sin.

Why use the pulpit to stoke fear over any minority? An elephant terrified of a mouse looks ridiculous - just like when a church/pastor is fearful or triggered by ≤ 1-4% of our society… it looks faithless. Stop chasing political boogeymen & focus on The Word/our own sins.
The U.S. is brainwashed by hate. Only 0.8% of U.S. adults are trans. Only 1% are Muslim. Only 1.6% identify as gay. Only 1.4% as lesbian. Only 4% are undocumented. That’s why they pick these groups to “save” you from. Small % = easy targets Start with the sin in your own heart.

Jesus spent a lot of time on our pride, greed & hypocrisy. Turning the pulpit into a weapon against minuscule segments of society is just a distraction. It’s pointing out specks while ignoring planks sitting in our pews. It’s turning from your house on fire, to blow out a candle.

Using the sacred pulpit for culture wars against the smallest groups in society, respectfully, is a misuse of kingdom time. The gates of hell can't prevail against the church, so the pulpit shouldn’t be a place to obsess over cultural minorities. PREACH ALL OF OUR NEED FOR JESUS!

Erick All’s career is likely over. At some point @nflcommish/@NFL’s @NFLOfficiating need to call/fine/suspend for him drop tackles. Roquan Smith is among the worst offenders.

Is there a Fox News correspondent who hasn’t cheated on/left their spouse while peddling “faith,” “family,” & “sanctity of marriage” to audiences they manipulate? Don’t get me wrong I’m 💯% pro faith, family & sanctity of marriage, that’s why I can’t stand the conceited hypocrisy

August 21, 1883. Just after six in the evening, the sky over Rochester, Minnesota turns the color of a bruise. Twenty minutes later, a third of the town is gone. Thirty seven people are dead. More than two hundred are bleeding in the streets. Rochester had no hospital. Not one. So a convent school on the edge of town emptied out. The nuns walked into the wreckage in full habits, and a woman named Mother Alfred Moes, an immigrant from Luxembourg who had come to America with almost nothing, sent word to the only doctor in town who could handle that many wounded. His name was William Worrall Mayo. He was 64, an English country doctor, a hard skeptic on the subject of religion. The sisters took over Rommel's dance hall and turned it into a hospital overnight. None of them had ever been trained in nursing. They learned it standing up, with Mayo giving orders and the injured laid out on the floorboards. When the last patient was gone, Mother Alfred went to see him. She told him Rochester needed a real hospital. A permanent one. She said she had seen it, a great hospital rising out of the cornfields on the west edge of town, and that she wanted him to run it. Mayo told her the truth. A building like that would cost $40,000. Well over a million in today's money. He said no congregation of school teaching nuns could possibly raise it. She did not argue with him. She simply told him that if he would take charge of the hospital, the sisters would take charge of paying for it. Then she went out and did it. For six years, her sisters taught school and handed over their wages. Every dollar. She bought nine acres of farmland. She hired the builders. She oversaw the plans herself, and when the money ran short, she found more. Saint Marys Hospital opened on September 30, 1889. Twenty seven beds. Thirteen sisters, none of them nurses by training. Dr. Mayo, now 70, walked in as chief of staff with his two sons, Will and Charlie, beside him. Those two boys built their surgical practice inside her building. Patients started arriving from Chicago, then from every state, then from overseas. The brothers formalized the partnership in 1919 and gave it their family name. Mayo Clinic. Today it treats more than a million patients a year and is ranked the best hospital in the United States. Mother Alfred Moes died on December 18, 1899, ten years after the doors opened. She never saw what it became. The Mayo brothers always said it plainly. Their father did not want the hospital. The nun did. She built it, and then she handed them the keys. Millions of Americans have made the drive to Rochester with someone they love in the passenger seat. Almost none of them know that the whole thing started with a 54-year-old woman standing in tornado wreckage, refusing to accept a no. h/t: Minnesota | FB

I propose we move from: “You’re not a true Christian if you vote for ________.” To: “You’re not a true Christian if you don’t follow the Sermon on the Mount.” It’s time we measured Christian faithfulness not by political allegiance but by allegiance to Jesus & his teachings.
