Michael Carrick asked if he feels #mufc's target of winning the PL in 2028 is a realistic ambition: "I think it depends on what you're talking about when you mention the direction at the moment. We've had a spell where we haven't won some football games, all right? Correct me if I'm wrong, are we four points off the top four or something? So perspective is important and football can change. I think when we came in in January, we were a lot further away from third spot and we ended up finishing third. For us to win the Premier League is a massive step, of course it is, but it's definitely something we're striving for, you know, and we've got to keep pushing for it. We're certainly still in the mix of the Premier League if finishing towards the top. That's a challenge and it feels because of the results, everyone focuses on the negative side. And it's up to us to turn that corner, but it's actually not that far away." [@StevenRailston]

Civil war at Man Utd, senior players are not happy with the current state of affairs. Their frustration isn’t aimed at Carrick, rather the #MUFC hierarchy and their incompetence. Lisandro’s outburst isn’t an isolated opinion, rather what many players are thinking.

Lewis Hamilton's full statement via Scuderia Ferrari. "Today wasn't the result we were looking for and it was on me. At a track that's difficult to overtake, you need to try something different and I chose to start on a new medium tyre, to go long and try to make a one-stop work. Unfortunately the Medium didn't perform as well as the soft." "I had a good second stint and the pace was back, but I couldn't make the progress I needed. Under the VSC, the team called me in but I missed the entry. After that, I decided to stay out and try to hold track position to the end but in the closing laps, I was struggling massively with tyre degradation and lost three places, finishing P6, which doesn't reflect the pace we had in the car today." "A painful lesson today, but I take full responsibility for the decisions I made. Not every call will work out, and I can accept getting it wrong but I'm sorry for the team for the points we lost today. They put so much into every weekend, and I wanted to deliver more for them. "I'll continue to put the work in and come back fighting at the next race." F1 2026 | Singapore

Michael Carrick: “I don't think it was necessarily harder when it was 10 men. I think it was just that they've [Tottenham] ended up scoring, but I don't think it was necessarily harder today with that. I think the fact that we've conceded in the way we have, I understand why you asked that question. And like I've just said, in that situation, we should kill the game off in different ways.” [sky]

Sir Gareth Southgate, the former England manager, says that working from home is bad for young people Southgate accompanies Alan Milburn during a trip to the Netherlands to look into how they are dealing with Neets. He has taken an interest in issue since presenting a documentary on how boys are falling behind He said: “What I’ve realised a little bit too late in my life is that one of the brilliant things about being in football was I had a coach every day of my life. “It’s one of the reasons I hate working from home. It’s great at my age but if you’re a youngster you need those mentors, the people that are going to look out for you, when all those complicated things that happen to you as a youngster…and help explain them.” Southgate warned that the rise in employers’ national insurance contributions and the minimum wage meant that sectors such as retail and hospitality were less likely to take the risk of employing a young person. “If you speak to people that run bars or restaurants, that’s what they would say is inhibiting them from employing young people,” Southgate added. “They will see risk in having to take on additional costs and not being certain of the outcomes, and I think again that’s where a mix of changing the mindset of how we look at these things, but also perhaps aided by some changes in policy, could really make a difference.” thetimes.com/article/44a3dc7…
