To avoid direct responsibility for a growing range of operational problems he’s losing control over he’s now angling for industry wide regulation? AI companies don’t have to be run this badly by someone desperately looking for an excuse. The board of OpenAI has a job to do. Replace him.

There is an extensive and ongoing review related to our agents’ use of internet access during training and evaluation. We’ve been publishing summaries at the link below and will continue to. We have not been as fast as we would have liked but we are trying to balance our desire for transparency with gaining a clear understanding from petabytes of agent activity logs, and working with impacted organizations. We are prioritizing as best as we can based on severity, and adding resources. Hugging Face is still the most severe event we’ve seen. We will be as transparent as we can be subject to things like vulnerabilities in other companies that our agents have found, which will be their call to disclose or not.

Carney’s Lament for a Smaller Canada Mark Carney invokes George Grant’s Lament for a Nation to give his sovereignty politics an intellectual pedigree. Grant warned that Canada could lose itself to American capital, markets, technology, defence, and culture while preserving the outward forms of independence. The book emerged from John Diefenbaker’s clash with John F. Kennedy over U.S. nuclear weapons on Canadian soil. Grant saw Diefenbaker’s resistance as a final assertion of Canadian independence, defeated by continental pressure and domestic accommodation. But the Avro Arrow exposes the paradox at the heart of Grant’s story. The same Diefenbaker government celebrated as resisting American pressure cancelled the Arrow in 1959. Canada did not lack the capacity to innovate or manufacture at the technological frontier. The Arrow was among the most advanced interceptors of its age. Canada failed in implementation, not invention. Ottawa abandoned the programme amid cost pressures, changing defence assumptions, and a failure to sustain the political and commercial strategy required to carry it forward. That is still Canada’s recurring problem. Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin was raised in Canada. Geoffrey Hinton developed much of the intellectual basis of modern AI at the University of Toronto. Canada produces exceptional talent. It too often fails to finance, scale, commercialize, and retain the companies and wealth that talent creates. Carney’s message is that Trump’s tariffs and 51st-state taunts vindicate Grant. But he uses the lament backward. Canada’s central failure is not that it integrated too deeply with the United States. It is that Canada has failed to build enough productive strength to thrive within that integration on its own terms. Sovereignty requires capital, competitive firms, infrastructure, export capacity, and the ability to turn Canadian talent into Canadian wealth. Brookfield is the corporate version of the same lament. While Carney chaired Brookfield Asset Management, it moved its head office to New York to tap deeper capital pools and gain greater access to U.S. equity indices. The decision was rational. Integration with the United States makes Canada wealthier. It also exposes the contradiction in Carney’s politics. He invokes Grant to warn against American dominance while the firm he chaired acted on the obvious economic fact that Canada lacks the market depth required by globally ambitious companies. The irony seems lost on Canada’s elites. They complain about dependence on the United States while tolerating the barriers that drive capital, corporate headquarters, talent, and opportunity south. Canada does not prosper despite the United States. It prospers because of access to it. Continental integration is not the enemy. The enemy is Canadian complacency, permitting paralysis, weak investment, and hostility to developing the country’s strengths in energy, minerals, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure. Grant’s real lesson is not that Canada should flee America. It is that a country without economic capacity cannot exercise political independence. Carney’s lament should be for a Canada that refuses to build.

Within 3 years we were making more revenue at the lower tax rate. Companies earned more and invested more. Jobs and the economy grew faster and more revenue was earned by the govt on the lower rate because of the expanded economic activity. 8pc personal income tax is a huge opportunity to create a similar expansive economic growth for Alberta families to take home more to save, spend and invest. An 8pc blended (5pc GST + 3pc PST) will add the consumption tax contributions of millions of tourists and business travellers to offset the lower personal rate to Albertans. Wake-up call: The Muslim Brotherhood’s Canadian network of student groups, charities, and advocacy organizations is already producing results: street mobilization, antisemitic violence, and policy capture. “Guess what? It’s working” Unlike the US, France, the UK, and Austria, Canada has never investigated these networks. Their method is entryism—narrative control, institutional embedding, then legal and electoral pressure. A key tool is “anti-Palestinian racism,” used to recast criticism of Hamas as racism and Zionism as hate. David Eby’s cynical snap election was totally unnecessary. What is necessary is the need for a change of government in BC. Record deficits, fleeing investment capital, credit downgrade after downgrade. It’s time for BC to elect a serious government committed to fiscal responsibility.
