We must never give up on our convictions, we will always show up as ordinary Ugandans who are sick of the state's excesses that marginalizes the well-being and welfare of its own people. We are just ordinary voices majorly students, farmers, small-scale business owners, ghetto based youths, teachers, doctors, engineers rising to the occasion redefining the future we want. The state narrative that oil is a game changer for the country's ambitious $500bn economic growth is a brain washing scheme to enrich a few powerful selfish individuals at a time when millions of ordinary people are going to bed hungry, lacking basic education, victims of a poor healthcare system and a sickening cost of living crisis yet important productive sectors of the economy like Agriculture, tourism, fishing are being silently crippled as a result of the severe consequences from the country's continued investments in fossil fuels. Nepotism is bad governance, whether it happens in public institutions, private institutions, or civil society. When opportunities are given based on family ties and personal connections instead of merit, competence and fairness, institutions suffer. We should not normalize nepotism.
