I feel like one of the main reasons is that Ichigo is so different from your usual Shonen protagonist. There is a reason Naruto and Luffy have so many similarities, the easy going attitude and clearly defined goal. It just connects better with a younger audience.

Anyone saying the story loses momentum doesn't understand how deep the story of ffbe goes. I don't take anyone seriously who says the story loses momentum. I played ffbe so I know how deep this story goes and it has an amazing story.

I think a Game that apparently deserves a 90+ rating should have a good story right from the start. Not one that you can only appreciate 40 hours in. So an 80+ is absolutely fine.

You making it seem like an 80+ rating is a low rating from reviewers. The post that I quoted, also had this weird Idea that the game not being 90+ rated is just because of these evil Critics and their hate for rpgs, which is pretty childish.

"A lot of reviewers". Only VGC and Eurogamer said that and that is because they only played the demo. Played the full game before saying anything because the story goes way more in depth than chapter 1.
