This is pretty funny. So on the one hand, Joel is pushing back against William Wolfe, who is a Christian Nationalist nut job. That's good, right?
But then, in the process of doing that, he states that if Amy Acton wins in Ohio, it will be a "communist takeover." This is the problem in a nutshell! No, Joel, it will not be a "communist takeover" if Amy Acton wins.
Turning every race into a flight 93 election is part of what's driving us into political insanity.
And by the way, Michael Anton, another Claremont loser, can eat a bag of dicks for creating that analogy in the first place.

One of the most pernicious things that the maga cult has accomplished is it provides an incentive to be casually bigoted, as a way of signaling to others that you're one of them. And social media has made it so easy for these people to find each other. Groups form. People organize. Hatred grows.
Recently, I have listened in to some political twitter spaces, where people claim to be the "real conservatives," claiming to "fight the woke establishment uniparty." (whatever that means) These people hide in their little audio chat rooms as a way of taking refuge from the embarrassment they would face if they attempted to defend their ideas out in the open.
The casual racism, bigotry, and xenophobia is staggering. Anti immigrant, anti Muslim, anti Indian, etc.
It's always the same NETTR bullshit, too. No matter how odious or corrupt someone is, like Bo French or Ken Paxton, these people say you have to vote for them, because voting for a Democrat is seen as treasonous.
Fundamentally, these are ignorant, immature, and cowardly people who have concocted a version of politics where they believe that their fellow Americans are actual enemies in a war. They've worked themselves up into a lather, convinced that the way to prosperity is taking the path of hatred and grievance.
This isn't just internet bullshit. It's real people whose true selves are revealed under the pseudo anonymity of social media.

This is grotesque behavior. Joe Biden was an American president. Xi is a communist dictator, and the head of a foreign state. Our internal divisions are not fair game in this context.

Watch for the people who say this doesn't matter, or who otherwise make excuses for the behavior of the administration. They are the ones you want to ostracize. They belong at the kids table. Refusal to acknowledge reality is a choice.
Court orders are not optional. The law requires all Americans to abide by court rulings, regardless of whether they disagree with the ruling.
Refusal to abide by a court ruling has a name: contempt. And contempt has clear consequences.
Judge Kelly explicitly ordered the Trump administration to “immediately return, reinstate, and restore” CNN, MS NOW, and Politico’s “hard pass” credentials to the White House. Refusing to abide by Judge Kelly's clear order would be a dangerous escalation and an affront to the rule of law.

Much like Hiroo Onoda, the Japanese soldier who refused to believe WWII had ended and hid in the jungle for nearly 30 years, the remaining Trump loyalists will find any excuse they can to justify their own delusions. Not just about Trump himself, but also about the midterm elections.
"It's the RINOs fault!"
"The establishment turned on him again!"
"The gLoBaLiSts did (something)"
"It's fine if we nominate the worst candidates imaginable, because character doesnt matter, and if you don't support our crazies, you're a loser cuck commie"
These are the arguments of fundamentally unserious people who cannot be bothered to accept reality. Trump is the least popular/least liked/least approved of President in history. And that the GOP brand with him at the top of it, is toxic. And it's not because of the media, or people undermining him, it's because of *his* actions and *his* choices within *his* administration, and the broader Republican Party's complicity in all of it.
And I've heard these arguments straight from the horse's mouths. Like, within the last few days. Some people actually do believe this stuff. If there were a jungle to hide in for the next 30 years, that's where you'd find them.

I know Rubio has to play along with Trump's nonsense but, at what point do you say enough is enough and put your foot down? I don't understand how we go from, Rubio wanting the harshest sanctions imaginable on Russia (while in the Senate) to "yeah sooo we're inviting him to Miami!" It's just so unserious for someone who is supposedly a serious person. Putin does not belong on US soil, ever.
