As agents get more capable, browser infrastructure can't be measured by speed and memory alone. Isolation, permissions, session boundaries, and observability are now part of the browser's core product surface. The browser is no longer just where an agent acts — it's a security boundary. That's exactly the philosophy behind how we're building Moli. 🧺

We made a deliberate trade-off: GPU/WebGPU is only a feature when your workload actually needs real pixels. Moli's on-demand layout keeps most agent runs at ~70MB RSS instead of ~650MB+ for a Chromium-based runtime. Most agent automation never needs to render.

What does an AI agent actually need from a browser? Often, not pixels. Moli can return the same page as: → Markdown → A compact semantic tree → A screenshot rendered on demand Structure first. Pixels when needed. github.com/lexmount/moli

Building a browser from scratch is tough. We built ours because we think browsers can be architected differently, including a full redesign of the rendering pipeline. For AI‑agent workloads: there’s no need for a constantly‑running 60fps layout engine. We compute div layout and rendering on‑demand exclusively at screenshot time.
