If you don’t have to travel, stay home and avoid unnecessary trips. Starting around 2 p.m., strong wind gusts could bring down trees and power lines.
Coastal flooding is expected to begin tonight and could be worst Saturday morning, especially in the Rockaways, around Jamaica Bay, and along Staten Island’s coast. If you live in a basement or low-lying area, know your exits and be prepared to move to higher ground if water starts rising.
