Today, the Courts and Tribunals Bill returns to the House of Commons for its Second Reading. The Bill contains a sinister proposal to significantly curb our ancient and precious right to trial by jury. Andy Burnham may have moved an inch, but David Lammy’s authoritarian plan to slash that right is still very much alive and kicking. Burnham’s ministers, like Starmer’s before them, believe that restricting defendants’ right to a jury trial is the most efficient way to reduce the Crown Court backlog — despite having no credible evidence to support this claim. FSU research has shown that people charged with speech-related offences are almost twice as likely to be found not guilty in a Crown Court with a jury than in a magistrates’ court without one. Put simply, if Lammy’s reforms pass, more people could be banged up for exercising their right to free speech. ✍️ Sign the FSU’s petition calling on the Government to guarantee our right to trial by jury 👇

Today, I’m swallowing my pride and asking for your help to save my restaurant. Running a restaurant is more than a business to me. It’s my passion, my livelihood, and something I’ve worked incredibly hard to build. We’re facing one of our hardest times. Right now, @Google is accepting only 1-star fake reviews, while genuine 5-star reviews from customers are not being accepted. You can try posting a 5-star review and see for yourself. This is seriously affecting our business. With outstanding rent and our landlord threatening court proceedings, the pressure is unbearable. I never imagined making a post like this, but sometimes you have to set pride aside and ask for help. 🙏 Please book a table at Singh’s Dining. Come enjoy our food, experience our hospitality, and see what we’re all about. We’re proud to be a non-Halal restaurant and want to keep serving our community for years to come. If you can’t visit, please share this post with friends and family. Every booking, share, and bit of support means more than you can imagine. ❤️ Please help us keep Singh’s Dining open. ❤️ From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported us. We need you now more than ever. 🙏 Please book. Please share. Please help us survive. singhsdining.com #SaveSinghsDining
Community note
The claim of Google conspiring against him is unsupported & appears aimed at soliciting 5star reviews. No clear evidence of review bombing exists; there are just 18 reviews across ratings. The owner’s responses to genuine customer concerns may help explain its unpopularity. share.google/T7GoPuHsibAsH2… share.google/sCkuAYbY8gWFHb… share.google/2zQ0DPzPTW1HEP

As someone who campaigned stronglyfor us to Leave and had been calling for a referendum for years I find this utterly ridiculous. This is a real attack on decent people all over the country who were absolutely fed up with the UK being subject to the anti democratic EU Commission telling us what to do National borders matter and UK unable to make our own decisions with genuine sovereignty was why I campaigned to Leave. This is a huge insult to millions of British people who certainly were not influenced in their note by ANYONE from Russia. Deliberate lies and disappointing that the Prime Minister has stooped so low All part of trying to get us back in but the British people are not stupid !

🚨 The Government has imposed a de facto Islamic blasphemy law by the back door — and almost certainly allowed Islamist extremists to influence the process. At the start of the year, the Free Speech Union revealed that all five members of the Government’s working group had troubling links to Islamist organisations, including the Muslim Council of Britain and MEND. Successive governments have had a policy of non-engagement with both since 2009, citing concerns about their views. A Freedom of Information request by Shadow Justice Secretary @NJ_Timothy revealed that the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) had said it deleted all responses to the Working Group’s consultation, which informed the drafting of the definition. That appeared to conflict with the Government’s own data policy, which requires key information of historical importance to be retained for 20 years. The Free Speech Union sent MHCLG a pre-action protocol letter, threatening judicial review unless the department disclosed who had been given the opportunity to influence the definition. After considerable delay, MHCLG has written back to @SpeechUnion and admitted that they had located ‘at least one available copy of the dataset’. This is a shocking revelation — and raises serious questions about the handling of the process. Angela Rayner must come clean. Why did officials originally claim that the data had been deleted? If it has been deleted, and subsequently “recovered”, why did this happen, and why did they attempt to hide behind data protection legislation? Did the Government allow extremists to influence the drafting of a definition that has had a chilling effect on free speech — and then mislead the public about what happened to the consultation responses? The public deserves to know the truth.
Labour’s “Islamophobia” definition was almost certainly influenced by extremists. They covered it up and said all the evidence was deleted. I forced them to investigate. Now their top official says ministers lied, and they do still have records of it. There is zero excuse not to publish it.

Burnham Says Brexit Has Hurt Britain. Yet UK Growth Has Beaten Germany, France and Italy. Since the referendum: 🇬🇧 UK +13.2% 🇫🇷 France +12.8% 🇮🇹 Italy +10.7% 🇩🇪 Germany +7.8% 🇪🇸 Spain +21.5% Burnham says Brexit has done “more harm than good”. That sweeping claim is a lot harder to square with the actual growth figures. 👇

So scrapping the triple lock would save £600M by 29/30 Didn’t this government just give Angola over £600M for their airport? So this government puts Angola before their own pensioners. The kind caring Labour Party. NOT.

The average British electricity bill has risen by £377 since 2018. Just £71 (19%) of that is due to higher gas prices to make the stuff. The other 81% (£306) is due to direct renewables subsidies, carbon taxes and having to rebuild the National Grid because all the windmills are in the North Sea... Thanks, as ever, to David Turver (@7kiwi) for the analysis and the chart!

🚨 There’s only one part of Ange’s speech here that you need to pay attention to … She says expansion of ‘empty homes management orders’ The Government is preparing to expand councils’ powers to take control of privately owned empty homes. You can still own the house. You can still own everything inside it. But an EDMO can give the council possession and management control of the house and legal possession of the furniture while the order operates. the council can take over its management and rent it to someone else for up to 7 years. You don’t get the rent they do. You get what’s left after ‘costs’ Ministers say strengthened powers are coming “very soon” 🚨

From 1 October, the energy price cap will rise by 4%. The average household bill will be a horrifying £1,723. This is the Government’s choice. Green levies could be removed from bills tomorrow. But Labour prefers to pursue Net Zero and let pensioners die of cold.

Living under this government is becoming truly terrifying. Tax us less and leave us all alone fgs
Andy Burnham has announced at the UN a new ‘National Centre for Information Defence’ to wage war against ‘untrue narratives’. He claims that “everything we hold dear” is under attack from so-called “misinformation”. This might be the most censorious thing a modern British Government has done. We already have NSOIT, the Government Communication Service, the Media Monitoring Unit, RICU, the Defending Democracy Taskforce, the Joint Election Security and Preparedness Unit, the FCDO’s Information Threats and Influence Directorate, 77th Brigade, NCSC/GCHQ, the National Cyber Force and the Social Cohesion Taskforce. Is that not enough? How do we know this new body won’t be weaponised to silence dissent and chill free speech? Will it reprimand the Government itself? FSU Director of Policy and Research @DavidRoseUK's new briefing argues that the Government has itself been spreading misinformation about misinformation — exaggerating the scale of the threat it poses. The Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, flounced off X, citing the spread of misinformation as a threat to democracy. If government ministers genuinely care about tackling mis- and disinformation, they should stay, debate and challenge falsehoods with more information — not less. It is vital that the UK defends our democracy against hostile actors such as Russia. But safeguards are essential to prevent bodies established for that purpose from expanding their remit to domestic dissent and policing the social media posts of British citizens who criticise government policy. We should remember that more than 62,000 people have reportedly been arrested for “speech offences” in Britain over the past five years — including social media posts. Meanwhile, under its media green paper, Watch This Space, the Labour Government is already proposing measures intended to promote “trustworthy” news sources. The concern is that this could favour established outlets such as the BBC while disadvantaging more critical outlets such as GB News and independent journalism. The Government needs to explain exactly what powers this new Centre will have, who decides what constitutes an “untrue narrative”, and what safeguards will prevent it from becoming a tool for policing lawful dissent. 2026 Britain is turning more into 1984 by the day. We literally now have a Ministry of Truth.

If British authorities are now turning trackers off so they can secretly ferry illegal immigrants onto British shores then how can we trust the government when they say the numbers are down?
Here they come again. Interestingly a couple of British boats were on their way to meet them but they appear to have turned their trackers off. They don’t want people to know which port they’re taking them to.

In what world did the Government think it acceptable to delete every response to the consultation that helped draft the anti-Muslim hostility definition — Britain’s new Islamic blasphemy law? It is clear there has been a cover-up in Angela Rayner’s Communities Department. Did ministers allow extremists to influence the definition while excluding the Free Speech Union and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) from the process? This is a national disgrace. The public deserves to know the truth. The anti-Muslim hostility definition has already had a chilling effect on free speech. It has been weaponised by activists, police forces and even Labour MPs to silence legitimate criticism and debate about Islam.
