Rochester’s hospital system recruits foreigners through an organization backed by the Talent Mobility Fund—financed by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and led by former Biden immigration officials.
Could that network also be involved in residency placement?
Here’s the connection:
The fund finances inSpring. InSpring and Rochester’s Chamber of Commerce launched Greater ROC Global. Rochester Regional Health joined that program to recruit international nurses.
The money comes from tech-connected donors:
• Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
• Open Philanthropy, whose major backers include Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz and his wife, Cari Tuna.
• The family foundation of GitLab co-founder Sid Sijbrandij.
The Biden ties are just as direct:
• Fund director Doug Rand was a senior adviser to the head of Biden’s immigration agency, USCIS.
• Founder Amy Nice helped lead STEM immigration policy in Biden’s White House.
• Adviser Amanda Baran ran USCIS’s policy office under Biden.
Their strategy paper describes “a future of much more migration without political backlash.”
Their approach: help employers expand immigration through existing visa pathways, without waiting for new legislation.
And the fund ALSO backs an inSpring program helping hospitals hire foreign-trained PHYSICIANS and navigate immigration and licensing requirements.
BREAKING: Rochester General Hospital in New York hired 82 resident doctors.
80 are foreign workers on H-1B or J-1 visas.
Only 2 are Americans.
98% of the residency slots went to visa workers- mostly from countries with documented USMLE cheating.
Americans got 2 jobs.
