Two short reports yesterday, and both did more than repeat the bear case. Iceberg Research (@IcebergResear) did its own maths on Deep Fission ($FISN). It puts the cost of power from the company's reactor at $289/MWh for the first unit and $148/MWh at scale. Gas costs $103 to $110. It also alleges about $350M of unfunded capital needs, which it says could mean roughly 43% dilution. FISN fell 10.9% and hit a low of $6.84. 71% of Iceberg's targets have been lower a week after the report. On EquipmentShare ($EQPT), Blue Orca (@blueorcainvest) is the second short seller to go after the OWN program, which funds more than half the rental fleet. Umibozu Research (@umibozuresearch) did it first in June. The two reports come at it from opposite directions. Umibozu followed the money out. It alleges founder-linked parties collected at least $77M in fees and property flips around OWN. Blue Orca followed the risk back in. It alleges those entities offered OWN investors a first-loss guarantee and an implied buyback, which it says adds up to billions in liabilities that are not on the balance sheet. EQPT fell 9.7% and hit a low of $16.28. It is down 31.7% from the close before Umibozu published. 78% of Blue Orca's targets have been lower a week after the report.

I don’t think people really understand how INSANE this is… The S&P 500 has more negative beta stocks than at any point in HISTORY. More names are moving opposite to the index than we've EVER RECORDED…

We are short Deep Fission ($FISN), a Nasdaq-listed small modular reactor (SMR) startup planning to bury a 5–15 MWe reactor one mile deep in a 40–60-inch borehole. Its SMR is not cost-competitive, already facing delays, and will likely never be commercialized. (1/10) iceberg-research.com/2026/09…

That buy wall is part of Flying Tulip’s design. Backing capital released from invalidated PUT Options is used to place ethereum:0x5dd1a7a369e8273371d2dbf9d83356057088082c limit buy orders at NAV. Tokens purchased this way are then burned. Separately, protocol fees and revenue fund open-market FT buybacks at spot price, with purchased FT distributed through the protocol’s reward, fee and revenue mechanisms.
there's a buy wall forming for $FT 👀

Following up on an interesting post by @choffstein. I wondered how the combination of 50% NTSX (90% stock/60% bond, 150% exposure), 25% ASFYX (managed futures trend) and 25% GLD (gold) would have done since 2019 when NTSX was launched. The result was impressive: 14.26% CAGR with max drawdown of -7.30%, compared to 10.87% CAGR with -20.85% max drawdown for VBIAX.

New @blueorcainvest report on $EQPT
We are short EquipmentShare ($EQPT) because we believe that undisclosed promises to backstop $EQPT’s equipment investment program create billions of dollars in hidden liabilities that could easily impair its balance sheet and bonds. Report & disclaimers at blueorcacapital.com

Unbelievable. 3 hours later and the 10Y Note Yield is now above 5.20% for the first time in 19 years. The 10Y Note Yield is now up +50 basis points in 30 days and +30 basis points in 2 days. Even more remarkable is that the average American has no idea this is happening. Yet. The bond market is imploding in front of our eyes.

🧩 New Research Ideas! Stocks with more down days outperform. Count beats magnitude. Tha authors rank US stocks by the frequency of down days over the previous month, on data from 1963 to 2023. - Stocks with many down days subsequently outperform those dominated by up days - A long-short strategy on this signal earned 12.3% annually over the sample - The effect is not explained by conventional short-term reversal The signal is the count of down days, not the size of the moves. We test plenty of reversal-type signals at Noax, and most die once you control for the usual suspects. A count-based measure surviving next to magnitude-based reversal is the interesting part. A 60-year backtest is one thing. Trading this after costs is another, the data suggest a real pattern, not a free lunch. 📄 The paper: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.… → More research like this in my newsletter: noaxcapital.com/newsletter

Where do I get affordable intraday data for testing stocks, ETFs and options? There are plenty of data vendors. But if you want good data cheaply, the list gets much shorter. My first choice is usually broker APIs. Two I use: • Alpaca - historical data available on the free tier • TradeStation - very useful historical data if you already have a funded account I compared TradeStation, Alpaca and Polygon minute data side by side. The differences were very small. Full comparison: crackingmarkets.com/comparin…

It is harder to take an unprofitable trader to profitable than it is to take a profitable trader to $1m pnl. That is why the myth of trading as some part-time supplemental easy income is so absurd.

I gotchu fam. Later today I’ll put out a longer post breaking down each process leading up from signal consumption to IBKR executing the trades. I’ll break down each step, why it’s needed, and struggles along the way I’ve had. I’m hoping ppl find flaws in my process so I can improve it as well!

After a brief intermission, back to the regularly scheduled programming. The 10Y Note Yield is back to its highest levels since 2023 and the 30Y Note Yield is up to 5.35%, matching 2007 levels. Despite numerous intervention attempts by the US Treasury, nothing is working. It is becoming increasingly clear that the only way to drive yields lower over the short-run would be an end to the Iran War and the ongoing global energy crisis. However, over the long-run, this is a structural problem, with deficit spending and years of compounding inflation at its core. The reality is that the era of ultra-low rates that Americans and the world became used to will not return anytime soon. "Higher for longer" is the new normal.
