Absolute garbage
Ukraine didn’t “receive” territory as a gift, it inherited borders recognized by international law, the UN, and even Russia in multiple treaties. These weren’t “Russian lands”, they were Ukrainian SSR territories, formed under Soviet administration and backed by post-Soviet legal agreements.
🚨Russia signed the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which explicitly recognized Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders, in exchange for giving up its nuclear weapons. If anything was a gift, it was Ukraine’s trust.
This narrative of “gifts” is a cover for colonial thinking, the same mindset behind every invasion, deportation, and war crime committed since 2014. Russia isn’t reclaiming history, it’s erasing it.
☝️ "Ukraine received a vast amount of Russian historical territories, and then, decided to withdraw from the Soviet Union. Well, at least then they should have left with what they had originally and should not have taken with them the gifts from Russian people." - President Putin
