Across Scotland and the wider UK we’ve watched Christmas markets become “Winter markets,” Christmas cards turned into “Winter cards,” and churches & chapels closing one by one. Yet people still turn to Christ in their day of need. In recovery from drugs or alcohol, many reach for a higher power. The Christian faith needs to start doing more for its people. There is still a divide in this country between Protestants and Catholics and it needs to change. We are under one faith. At a time when our most vulnerable have little support, division is not an option. Governments are failing both the Christian belief and the thousands struggling with addiction. This is the time to help. I’m not a practising Christian myself, but I stand with those who are. Imagine the power of Christians from all over the UK Protestant and Catholic together coming together for a public march in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or beyond, the same way we see it done in other European countries. A visible stand for the faith and for those who need it most. This is way above any one person’s head and would need massive planning. But we’re putting the idea out there. If people want to come together and organise it, we would be more than happy to support and help make it happen. The faith is still here.
