In the 80s, Pablo Escobar used the concept of "narco-philanthropy", where he adopted Robin Hood-like tactics such as building schools, housing, distributing food to buy local loyalty and form a social shield against law enforcement. He then used the same institutions to launder drug money. Escobar even ran for Congress and won. He was affectionately known as El Patrรณn, El Doctor, Columbia's Robin Hood

As much as it pains me to say it I fookin respect Man United as a football club. Liverpool United and Arsenal built absolute monsters over generations history trophies supporters worldwide fanbases. Proper football institutions. Then Chelsea and Shamchester City turned up with the billionaire cheat code and started waving the credit card around like a pissed up lottery winner. So this โ€œRed Cartelโ€ shite absolutely kills me. The Reds built the fookin castle you gang of crabs just bought one. ๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿ˜‚

Manchester United were founded in 1878. Liverpool in 1892. Same era, footballing world and both built their success over generations, not overnight. Liverpool have 20 league titles, with 18 won before Financial Fair Play even existed. That history was built through Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish and decades of identity, standards and winning culture. United have 20 league titles too. The Busby legacy, the Class of โ€™92, Fergusonโ€™s dynastyโ€ฆ all built long before billionaire ownership and state-level spending became part of modern football. FFP only arrived in 2011. These clubs had already become giants by then. Thatโ€™s the difference. Real history takes decades to build. It comes through generations of players, managers, supporters and tradition. You can spend billions trying to manufacture success overnight, but you canโ€™t buy 100 years of history.

Everyone laughing at him for asking for donations doesnโ€™t understand the magnitude of this. This is genuinely life or death and if you think otherwise youโ€™re silly. Very weird how the police protection has ended abruptly, when itโ€™s the most vulnerable he will be. Someone wants him dead
On Wednesday, just hours after the verdict officially confirming Manchester Cityโ€™s guilt, the Commission responsible for Portugal's witness protection programme informed me of its decision to terminate my participation in the programme and withdraw my police protection, thereby knowingly placing me in a life-threatening situation. Given these circumstances, I have no alternative but to relocate, within the next few days, to an undisclosed location for an indefinite period of time, due to the multiple death threats I have received and the serious risk of an assassination attempt against me. For this reason, I have just set up a GoFundMe campaign and I am asking for everyone's support to help me survive this serious situation created by the Portuguese State, which, as I have already stated, has knowingly decided to place my life at risk. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a special thanks to everyone who continues to support Football Leaks, and I can give everyone one guarantee: the fight will most certainly continue! gofundme.com/f/help-save-ruiโ€ฆ

Apparently Manchester United were able to build their success due to the lack of financial rules pre-2009. So I went back to look at the publicly available financial records and found that actually United would NOT have broken Financial Fair Play (FFP) or Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) if they had been applied retrospectively to the 1990s or 2000.

This is what keeps getting ignored. Manchester City were allowed to defend themselves. Their witnesses were heard. Their evidence was considered. But an independent Commission ultimately found 114 of 115 charges proven, including sham commercial arrangements, misstated accounts and disguised funding. City have appealed those findings. (Premier League) You cannot simply call the process corrupt because the evidence didnโ€™t produce the verdict you wanted. They werenโ€™t denied a defence. They presented one and lost the case. Now let the appeal process test those findings.
Replying to @terryflewers
City called 24 witnesses and the Premier league hired panel just called them liars Everything about the Premier league process screams sham. Rather than let the trial go to an external independent body the Premier league hired their own people, if they're placing the charges then adjudicating on them themselves how in anyway can that be deemed impartial. It's like the police arresting you for a crime then appointing the judge and running the trial themselves. Complete and utter sham of a process.
