FinCEN just withdrew the rule that would have treated crypto mixers as a primary money laundering threat. Buried in the notice: “lawful users of digital assets may leverage mixers to enable financial privacy when transacting through public blockchains.” Federal Register still files it under “Proposed Rule” ...that is the section used for withdrawals of proposed rules. The practical result is that the 2023 mixer proposal is dead. Link in thread 👇

Dr. Bell built a hospital, tidy and small, With a clock that worked and a nurse in the hall. You'd walk in on Monday, get fixed up by noon, And be home eating soup with a regular spoon. Then a politician came by with a pen. "A doctor who OWNS it? Oh, never again! A doctor who owns the room where he cuts? That's dangerous! Reckless! Completely nuts! Why, he might want you well so you'll tell all your friends! That's a conflict of interest. Right here it ends." "Keep your little hospital," the necktie man said, "But don't add a room, or a floor, or a bed. And nobody else gets to build one. You see? From now on, the hospitals come from me." So he built a big one way out of town, Run by a Bureau, a Board, and a Crown. And nobody owns it, and nobody's to blame, And nobody's fired, and nobody's name. Grandpa went there on a Tuesday in spring. He's still in the lobby. They haven't called a thing. But he's safe from the doctor who wanted him well.

Imagine if the average person in America knew even just 5% of the election rigging we have done over the years. Just the unified front stuff non partisan stuff. Internal vote rigging is not done in a unified way, naturally.
Here’s a shocking statistic you may not know. USAID more than doubled its spending on Brazil as soon Bolsonaro won their 2018 election. This was not because Brazil suddenly needed twice the aid. The money was spent on projects in Brazil to undermine Bolsonaro.

Commie bot farms. Just wanted to say that out loud. Carry on.
There are definitely bot armies operating on Twitter. Say the word 'communism' and you get random, small follower accounts, based in Australia, DEFENDING communism. If the eSafety Commissioner has a role, it should be to find the source of these commie bot farms infiltrating our society and trying to overwhelm and demoralise anyone who defends Australian culture. But as always, the government only every wants to silence real citizens who criticise the government. Never the thousands of bots acting to PROTECT the government and its radical commie ideology.

Add to my vibe coding list... a game where various genres of sci-fi duke it out in a game of war.
As someone who’s worked on a number of Warhammer 40K games, I endorse this.

For every gigawatt-thermal of fusion reactor capacity burning deuterium-tritium, you can produce 2 tonnes of gold per year by recycling the 14 MeV neutrons through mercury. The economics of a gold-breeding fusion reactor are about half revenue from gold, and half from electricity at current prices. The natural evolution of technology is to move beyond "chemistry' and into "alchemy" - nuclear sciences that involve the transmutation of elements, at energy scales and densities a million times higher than usual material science, chemistry, and molecular interaction scales. The first companies to approach this will be targeting things like medical isotopes and enriched nuclear fuel, but there's really no limit. If you think we can make energy too cheap to meter, then it becomes feasible to transmute elements at industrial quantities as raw material feedstock into the economy. Your thesis really should be that reality is programmable down to the atomic level, and that is inevitable where our technology will take us.

The law firm I hired who is monitoring/preparing defamation/IP theft work for me - I will have obtain copies of these... and give a quick (non-expensive) assessment. Meanwhile, Amazon states that publishers are responsible for ensuring content doesn't violate copyright, trademark, brand, or other rights, and it provides an IP-infringement reporting process for "trademark/unfair-competition/source-confusion."

Wait... can this be a thing? Can we convince the world that the president is AI slop? I mean he is... but can we convince the world?
The president is a generated image

Always remember when an Israeli intelligence agent went on 60 Minutes and said this: “We create a pretend world. We are a global production company: We write the screenplay. We are the directors, producers, the main actors, and the world is our stage.”

You cant vote your way out of the one party system.
Republicans are spending millions of dollars on ads trying to get Americans to forget that corruption in Washington has reached an all-time high, the cost of living is unsustainable, and they have accomplished next to nothing in office.

Power selects for a specific personality type, and it is not yours. F.A. Hayek spelled this out in 1944. In a centrally planned system, the people who rise are not the most competent or the most honest. They are the most willing to exercise force against strangers, the most comfortable with contradiction, and the most skilled at coalition-building through favors rather than merit. Government filters for the bad ones from the start. The mechanism is straightforward. Political power means controlling resources you did not earn. Capturing that control requires outcompeting rivals who have no ethical constraints. A principled candidate refuses to promise contradictory things to different voter blocs. An unprincipled one does it without blinking. The unprincipled one wins. Repeat this selection pressure across hundreds of electoral cycles and you get the U.S. Congress in 2026: a body where the average member has held office for over a decade, raised millions from interested parties, and delivered almost nothing measurable to the people who voted for them. Bureaucracy compounds the problem. Once entrenched, state agencies attract people who want authority without accountability. You cannot fire most of them. The FDA, the TSA, the Federal Reserve all function this way, staffed by individuals whose career advancement depends on expanding the agency's reach, never on serving you efficiently.

It's a specious claim that artificial superintelligence will benefit everyone. Humanity's problems are not caused by a lack of intelligence, our problems are caused by greedy plutocrats like Zuckerberg. It's like a serial killer telling us we can stop serial killing by making serial killers smarter. The argument hinges on the premise that humanity is suffering because we're just not smart enough to come up with the right solutions, when in reality that hasn't been the case for a very long time. Humanity has had the technology and resources to solve all its major problems for generations; we've just chosen to use our technology and resources making rich people richer instead. We've long had the ability to end extreme poverty, to stop destroying our biosphere, to stop waging wars, to stop pillaging the global south at unfair prices, to stop imposing starvation sanctions, to end genocides, to remove money from politics, to institute true democracy, to create a well-informed electorate free from propaganda brainwashing, and to provide everyone with a decent standard of living. This hasn't failed to happen due to our lack of superintelligence, it has failed to happen because the people with the power and the money actively stop it from happening. No amount of added cleverness is going to make plutocrats less greedy, make warmongers less bloodthirsty, make politicians less corrupt, make empire managers less tyrannical, make imperial propagandists less deceitful and manipulative, or make capitalists less exploitative and ecocidal. Give them artificial superintelligence and they'll just use it to grab up more money and control, just like they're doing with the AI of the present day. We can already see that AI is not making the world a better place. It's already taking away jobs, facilitating war crimes and mass surveillance, poisoning art, and making people crazy and stupid. We're already witnessing the results of more intelligent AI. Continuing to say we just need the AI to be more intelligent is like taking a pill to get healthy, having a terrible reaction to the medicine, and then deciding we just need to dramatically increase the dose. Artificial superintelligence isn't going to solve all our problems because our problems don't arise from insufficient intelligence. We don't need artificial superintelligence, we need basic human kindness. We need justice. We need ethics. No matter how much intelligence we add to the AI soup, it's never going to magically add up to simple human morality. Which is what we're actually going to need if we're going to create a healthy world.
We believe superintelligence will create significant new opportunities for all people and businesses. Meta already serves billions of people at scale and helps hundreds of millions of businesses reach customers. Today we are starting the next major pillar of our business, Meta Enterprise Platform, to help businesses use AI to grow and transform in new ways as well.

Take the cholesterol out of a cell wall and the cell leaks. Take the cholesterol out of the skin and the sun can shine all summer and make no vitamin D. Take the cholesterol out of the testicle and there is no testosterone. Take the cholesterol out of the ovary and there is no oestrogen, no cycle, no baby. Take the cholesterol out of the adrenal gland and there is no cortisol, and you cannot get out of bed, let alone run from anything. Take the cholesterol out of the liver and there is no bile, and a chip goes through you like a coin through a machine. Take the cholesterol out of the brain, which holds a quarter of all the cholesterol in your body, and you are holding a wet sponge. Take the cholesterol out of a nerve and the wire has no insulation. Take the cholesterol out of a wound and it does not close. Take the cholesterol out of your mother's milk and your brain never finishes building. There is no organ on that list that works without it. There is no plant that contains it. There is no animal that ever went without. Your liver makes most of it on purpose, every day of your life, whether you eat any or not, because the body has decided this is the one thing it will not run short of. They found the substance that every cell in you depends on, watched the body guard it with its own factory, and gave you a tablet to switch the factory off.

Another serious contender for "We need to scare them in to regulating us so we can have a monopoly and set the price." Which they are legally obligated to do for the shareholders when it becomes the only thing they haven't tried yet.
AI is getting cheaper more quickly than any other transformative tech in history. At a given level of performance, cost has fallen ~47%/quarter since 2023. That’s 4× faster than DNA sequencing, 6× faster than compute, 18× faster than lithium batteries, and (up to 1973) 54× faster than electricity.

This is what they want. AI is the problem the technocrats have been dreaming of, the perfect enemy and soldier to lead them to one world government. Climate Change, Asteroids, Aliens, Terorists none provide the perfect excuse to lock everything down.... until now.
Replying to @MIRIBerkeley
How do you enforce this act without instituting a new surveillance state that must monitor all files someone stores on any type of computing device and monitors usage of all data center traffic aka everything that happens in the internet? Further, how does this not become a thought police? You’d need to ensure no one was trying to trick an AI to do something that exceeds capabilities of a human so wouldn’t you need to have a body that can punish people based on if they use AI for an approved or non-approved use case? What you want is an authoritarian state that controls what people can do, what information they have access to and how they’re able to use their own free will. You want power and control that is dictated by the few over the masses. You want the antithesis of freedom

You may have heard about my AI bill with @SenSanders. We're introducing the legislation today, and I wanted to highlight one of the most important aspects: A ban on “recursive self-improvement.” What does that mean? 👇🏽
