Lionel Messi’s boadyguard won’t let anyone get near him, even pushing away a camera person for Apple TV.

Some news: I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be moving to Texas to join the Dallas Morning News as a sports reporting intern for the next couple of months. Big thanks to @jamiedhancock for giving me this opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting started!

Fantastic story from Steve!
Youth sports in New Jersey are an expensive, corrupted, high-pressure mess. We found a better way — 4,000 miles away — in a place where they don't even keep score in some youth games. Hallo, Norway! 🇳🇴

This was one NYCFC will regret not winning, two different leads gained and each one squandered, with Atlanta’s equalizer gifted to them by a failure to save by the backup keeper. @MatthewMangam has more on the draw at the Benz nysoccerjournal.com/nycfc-at…

Pascal Jansen on why he went with just two subs and didn't bring on Matt Miazga:
"We were in control defensively ... We didn't need anybody more central. The two subs is part of the game — sometimes you need more, sometimes you need less."

#NYCFC takes the lead in the 57th minute through Andrés Perea, his second goal of the season.
Agustín Ojeda, making his 100th appearance for NYCFC, notches his team-high ninth assist of the season.

And just as I typed this, Atlanta equalized from a set piece about five minutes after #NYCFC took the lead.
This is the 12th time NYCFC has conceded from a set piece this season.
A few shaky moments from backup keeper Tomás Romero, who is making his first MLS start of the season and fifth overall for #NYCFC.
His only league clean sheet for NYCFC came against Atlanta last season.

This is James Sands' first time playing right-back since #NYCFC's 1-1 tie with Philadelphia Union on November 7, 2021. (@GlennCrooks with the find)
Traoré at the 9 with Luighi to the bench, Sands at right back?, Miazga available as a sub. A lineup you’d think could still get it done against an Atlanta team without Almiron, Miranchuk, but then again…

#NYCFC strike first against Atlanta in the 5th minute on an Atlanta own goal, set up by a direct pass into the box from Agustín Ojeda.
It won't count as an assist for Ojeda, but yet again, he's creating chances and getting involved.

Atlanta United has Breel Embolo now, and Tata Martino has developed some young talents like Cooper Sanchez, but a disjointed attack and disappointing DPs have held the Five Stripes back. More on ATL from @RobUsry of @FiveStripeFinal via @MatthewMangam nysoccerjournal.com/atlanta-…

With 1 goal in 11 MLS games, Bénie Traoré is off to the joint-slowest start among #NYCFC's all-time nine attacking DPs.
He's totaled 11 shots so far, putting only four attempts — including his penalty goal — on target.

Bénie Traoré is off to a historically slow start for an attacking Designated Player signed by NYCFC. @MatthewMangam looks at Traoré’s slow start and goes through some of the ups and (mostly) downs from his first 11 MLS appearances nysoccerjournal.com/benie-tr…
