Si continua a parlare di un conflitto in corso tra Israele e Palestinesi di Hamas. Ma la cartina che allego qui sotto mostra una realtà differente: Israele ha già praticamente vinto la sua guerra di espansione territoriale, rimane solo qualche esigua sacca di resistenza ostile, che viene ogni giorno schiacciata e controllata sempre meglio. A questo punto - con la mappa attuale di fronte - si può ragionevolmente affermare che Israele ha vinto, e sta solo ultimando il lavoro con qualche problema di terrorismo e qualche residua piccola sacca fuori dal controllo dell'IDF , destinata comunque a soccombere presto. Israele aveva già stravinto la prima guerra, quella del 1948. Da lì è poi partita una guerra di espansione continua del territorio concordato con l'armistizio, ufficialmente giustificata con "motivi di sicurezza" e protezione degli insediamenti dei coloni. Di fatto è stata una lunghissima e sanguinosa guerra di espansione territoriale, che sta avviandosi a conclusione con il successo totale di Israele e la sconfitta degli arabo-palestinesi. Osservando la cartina si può anche capire meglio perché i civili palestinesi sono passati dall'appoggio a una loro leadership moderata come fu quella dell'OLP di Arafat ad affidarsi completamente ai pazzi fondamentalisti di Hamas: lo hanno fatto per disperazione.
