We may disagree on policy, but let's keep it respectful. Singling out an individual employee isn't that. Nico is talented and has led some of our institutional expansion efforts effectively. He's just getting started. I've spent the last few months working with tribal leaders, and I've genuinely enjoyed it. They want economic opportunity for their communities, and our partnerships have been additive, with one done and more on the way. Some tribes are excited, others aren't, and that's okay. We choose constructive dialogue.
Alright, gang, here’s the latest bullshit from Kalshi. Apparently, Kalshi has been sending emails to tribal leaders across Indian Country asking for meetings at G2E. Of course, I got my hands on the email. So, who do you think they’re sending to Las Vegas? The A Team? B Team? D Team? Gotta be the best, right? Nope. They’re sending the coffee boy. Meet Nicholas Hull, the Intern. I think this might be his first big boy job. We’ve asked several tribes to take the meetings so we can compare deals. We want to know everything We’re also asking tribes to make appointments and then no-show. Let's have fun with this.

Meet Rizzo's, a Chicago sports bar that lives and dies by Cubs home games. When the Cubs play at Wrigley, Rizzo's is packed and pulls in tens of thousands of dollars a night. When the Cubs don't play at home, the bar takes a hit. Playoff season makes that swing even bigger, so Rizzo's hedged it on Kalshi. We made a market for them: How many playoff games will the Cubs host this season? Rizzo's position: NO on 2+ home games. If the Cubs host 2+ games, Rizzo's has extra playoff nights and makes thousands in added revenue. If the Cubs host fewer, Rizzo's misses out on that playoff revenue, but their Kalshi position pays out to cover it. Either way, Rizzo's is covered.

Good day for Chicago. Go White Sox!
Within a couple minutes of each other, the Chicago Cubs and White Sox both clinched a berth in the postseason. It's just the 3rd time they've both made the playoffs in the same year. 2008 and 1906 were the other two instances.

Kalshi for Businesses is probably the most exciting thing happening at the company right now. We're building out the org to service the increase demand in hedging. If you're good at relationship management and GTM, apply by replying and explaining why you're a good fit.
Navore is a small produce distributor that buys from family farms. Their whole business depends on good harvests. Heat waves are their biggest threat. When a stretch of extreme heat dries up the fields, the farmers lose their harvests, and Navore loses their revenue. So Caroline, who founded Navore, came to us and asked if we could build markets around this exact risk. We listed them, and now she hedges every week. When the heat waves come, the trade payouts soften the hit. Here's the part we love. She doesn't keep all of it. Some of what she wins goes straight back to the farmers who lost the crop. Small businesses have been carrying weather risk alone forever. They shouldn't have to.

Charlie Portis rowed at Yale, graduated from Wharton in '86, and led a successful real estate career before founding Wateriders Kayak Tours - the first kayak rental in Chicago. Throughout its history, Portis has been navigating the unpredictable rain in Chicago, often being forced to cancel tours due to the forecast. Last week he found Kalshi's rain markets for the first time. Portis began to trade on the probability of the rain, watching the forecasts as he always does, but now putting small amounts on YES, for "will it rain tomorrow in Chicago." Given these contracts payout when it rains, they function as a "hedge," decreasing his lost revenue in the event of bad weather. Charlie has always been a pioneer, and we're excited that he's been able to help Wateriders using Kalshi markets! wateriders.com/tour/classic-…

Institutional finance has poured more than $60 billion into sports since 2019, across franchises, leagues, media rights, and venues. Sports is now an asset class. When that much capital rides on game outcomes, you have to hedge it. LSU owes Lane Kiffin a $3M bonus if LSU wins it all. LSU bought insurance against it from a sports insurer. The insurer didn’t want to carry that risk alone. Last month they hedged $662,050 on Kalshi buying contracts that pay out $3M if LSU wins. They essentially re-insured the risk. Shipping a 40 foot container cost $1,420 in 2019. Two years later it hit $10,377. James, CEO of Zest, lived through it. He asked us to list container freight, so he could hedge the thing that nearly took him out the first time. Big companies have had freight derivatives for decades. Now a tea company with 20 employees does too.
