Today we had the All Party Group on Learning Disability in Parliament buildings hosted by Chair @DannyDonnelly1 @Economy_NI officials attended to provide an overview of their current provision and an update on their review into Post-19 legislation. We were delighted to welcome Niall from Longstone school who attended to represent his peers and ask questions relating to transitions and to discuss the challenges he has faced. He wants to see better support for young people going forward. Niall spoke so well and impressed all the MLA’s and attendees. @Kelmba @MaoliosaMcH

Thanks to @DianeDoddsMLA & @petermartindup for meeting with us today and discussing next steps and actions. Our sector needs to be respected and supported. The voice of people with learning disability needs to be heard!!
Thanks @petermartindup @DianeDoddsMLA for meeting groups impacted by DOH core grants process. 259 groups applied for a piece of £1.8m. 25 groups successful. No carer groups funded. Some charities will cease altogether due to this loss of funding, others will reduce services.

Steps in the right direction! 🌟 Yesterday our Disability Equality Officer Joanne, together with Director Grainne, had a productive meeting with senior representatives from PSNI at their headquarters. They've reassured us of their commitment to promoting dignity, respect, and security for all individuals, regardless of their abilities. This marks a positive step forward, and we're eager to continue our discussions with the PSNI. Hear what Joanne had to say about todays meeting 💬 “It was good to meet with the PSNI today, so they could reassure us that they are always on hand to help and support people with a learning disabilities stay safe in their communities across Northern Ireland” ➡️ Next up, we are planning to arrange a meeting with representatives from the learning disability community to ensure their voices are heard and integrated into our efforts to make Northern Ireland the best place in the world to live with a learning disability!
