Moving deep tech ahead in Japan and beyond. From DeSci to industry matchmaking, we bring cutting-edge innovation to market. DeSci could be the next big thing.
Start-ups, especially from deep tech ventures, need an alternative to funding that doesn't require wasting so much time pitching to TradFi investors that reject ~98% of the time.
Token fundraising platforms like @juiceboxETH give that potential. They give hope we'll get closer to financial meritocracy.
Many pop-up cities (villages/events) for these Q3-Q4 dates are getting confirmed, and we're here for it.

There is another path. We’ve started new companies and currencies. Why can’t we start new communities, cities, and even countries?
After all, that’s part of why Elon wants Mars, and why Thiel backed seasteading. Maybe we can get there via the Internet.

San Francisco is the only tech hub with growing startup formation. Politicians want to kill it🚨
Garry Tan on the data:
SF has +24% company formation growth. Every other city is declining.
But city hall is doing everything it can to drive companies out:
▪️ 800% gross receipts tax hike proposed
▪️ Lab bans threatening biotech and AI startups
This is the only VC hub in America still growing, and local politicians are trying to destroy what makes it special.
The irony: SF's comeback is real, and the biggest threat isn't competition from other cities. It's self-inflicted.
Do you think SF stays the AI capital or does policy push startups elsewhere?

We're excited to share @MeritoNetwork 's vision of tokenizing IP on Internet Capital Markets at this upcoming event at the Network School. Looking forward to meeting you @arifkazi_
Every entrepreneur I know thinks the fundraising process is broken.
Why capital formation should be onchain:
- It’s more efficient
- The process is fairer for both sides
- Much more transparency
Japan unveiled its innovation platform NINEJP with the aim of creating globally competitive businesses throughout Japan from academic-origin research. A NINEJP rep told the BIO Japan conference in Yokohama about its goals:
1) Better entrepreneurial talent with strong communications skills
2) Boosted ability to gather info. on major global trends
3) Stronger collaboration with overseas innovation ecosystems
4) Enhanced Japanese overseas presence and recognition of its IP.
The leader stressed that "science and tech strengths don't guarantee commercial success. We could use more enthusiasm, creativity, and overseas researchers and entrepreneurs."
All things that @MeritoNetwork can support with as we bridge Japanese innovators to global opportunities. Onward.
Big congrats to Shimon Sakaguchi-san of Osaka University, Dr. Mary Brunkow, and Dr. Fred Ramsdell for winning the 2025 nobel prize in Medicine for novel insights on how our immune system protects us.
A testament to the power of international medtech teamwork from Japan with the world.
Onward.

We're optimistic the DeSci market is going to grow for 3 main reasons:
1) Shift from internal innovation to external "open" innovation for corporate R&D (with $1.1 trillion annual spend).
2) Massive growth in Web3 capital seeking diversification into biotech assets (now at all time highs today).
3) Decline in public biotech funding & biotech VCs (many are closing in the US), so innovators will turn to DeSci as they seek new forms of capital .
