‼️UPDATE: Christa Pike reportedly has NO MEMORY of the execution attempt!! Her attorneys are saying that she is awake and speaking, but does NOT remember Tennessee trying to execute her last week. She reportedly knows her name, but appears disoriented about the current date and time. She still thinks we’re in September. This could end up becoming a huge issue if Tennessee tries to execute Christa Pike again. The Supreme Court has already ruled that someone cannot be executed if a mental impairment leaves them unable to understand why the state is putting them to death. So if her condition after the failed execution is serious enough that she can’t understand the connection between her crime, her sentence and what Tennessee is trying to do, her competency would possibly become a major legal battle before they ever try this again. And that’s IF they don’t commute her sentence to life in prison without parole. She survived after receiving two doses of pentobarbital during the failed lethal injection and spent several days unconscious on a ventilator before regaining consciousness. She is considered to be the first person in U.S. history to survive AFTER receiving the lethal drugs during an execution attempt!!!
