Traditional memes and Stonk memes work very differently. With a traditional meme, volume is mostly tokens changing hands. People buy, people sell, LPs provide liquidity, and that's basically the cycle.
With Stonk memes like Hypurr, volume actually does something. While volume is flowing, the main LP mechanism buys the underlying pair and distributes it pro rata to holders. For Hypurr, that underlying asset is Hyperliquid.
That changes the incentive structure. No volume means no distribution. More volume means more Hyperliquid flowing back to Hypurr holders. And with a 3% tax to enter and exit, constantly vamping in and out becomes much harder. The mechanics naturally favor people who are willing to hold.
This is where the Hypurr flywheel gets interesting. Feel underexposed? Hold your Hypurr, receive Hyperliquid, swap some of that Hyperliquid into more Hypurr, increase your position, and potentially receive even more Hyperliquid later.
If Hypurr catches on, you don't necessarily need to sell your Hypurr bag to realize value. You can keep your exposure to the meme while receiving a liquid asset in Hyperliquid. It encourages holding and discourages selling, while holders still benefit when other people trade because that volume feeds the distribution mechanism.
So you're holding a Hyperliquid mascot meme while accumulating Hyperliquid, and Hyperliquid just hit a new ATH today.
