HE HID FOR FOUR MONTHS. THEN CNN HAD TO DRAG HIM OUT.
Steve Hilton opened the California governor debate by thanking CNN for finally bringing Xavier Becerra out of hiding. That tells you everything. Becerra barely showed his face for months because he knows his record can't survive daylight. He did nothing as attorney general while California went to hell.
When Becerra tried to lecture about bad policies, Hilton hit him with the line of the night: "Yes, like voting Democrat."
Then Becerra went straight to race-baiting. He accused Hilton of wanting to deport people who don't look like him. That is what they do when they can't defend open borders and a ruined state.
California does not need another Democrat who hides from voters. It needs someone who will fight.
This was a MASTER-level troll right out of the gate.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton kicked off his debate on CNN by thanking the network for finally forcing his Democrat opponent Xavier Becerra out of hiding.
HILTON: “But first of all, I just want to say thank you to CNN for bringing Xavier out of hiding. Um, he’s barely been seen in public since the primary four months ago. It’s very important we have this debate.”
Just like that, Hilton got his first shot in before the debate had even gotten started.
Hilton really has a knack for these moments.
When he sees an opening, he knows exactly what to do with it.
