Cost of film is about 15€, and for same price you get funcional digital camera which makes better photos and it is sometimes even integrated with printer. Only point to make such camera is recording and publishing stupid video of it.

True, but sometimes the fun is in making it yourself—not just getting the best photo.

Then make it without film, like Leonardo da Vinci did. Today it is more difficult to obtain film and develop it. Not to mention that you have to create another device to project it on paper or digitize it. And all that is quite complicated if you want colour photos.

Building a pinhole camera is a good way to learn how cameras actually work. Digital cameras are a black box to most users. Using primitive versions of current technologies is an excellent learning tool.

Well, this "stupid video" inspired me to look into doing this with my kids. They will love going to five below and picking out a tin of candy to use, and I'll appreciate having a canistor to store my stuff in again like old times. What does film smell like? I've forgotten.

some people enjoy the process of building, working with their hands, and learning how things work. why are you so spiteful?

Photography as a medium of expression is about more than simply getting a perfect recreation of a moment in time. It is an art medium and as such your opinion is the only stupid thing here.

Why so cynical? The point is not make "good photos" but crafting a little fun thing that you can actually do and share Its a novelty that cost you less than 20 bucks and gives you lots of fun memories I

Perfect, pristine digital photos often have a bit of a boring and flat quality to them. There is a magic to analogue photography that is one of a kind.

Or to LEARN stuff. I assure you it makes you a much better photographer when you UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE and not just press a dumb button on a dumb $10 digital camera. Just some of my babies but have others that go back over 100 years to 1911.

You have no curiosity or interest in how things work. You sir, are not worthy of response but here I am berating you. Unimaginative person!

Quite opposite. I have great interest in how things work. That is why I do not like when someone uses expensive material to make lazy patchwork and wonder how things work.
29
Few digital cameras make better photos than analog ones. Or at least you need a lot of post-processing.

Or even beter, use Ai and do photos from the comfort of your sofa

Is not the same. Pinhole teaches you about exposure and other basic. Is not that simple has point and shoot. It's even art.
