In my regime, citizens will be banned from publicly speaking about sensitive matters they have no knowledge of. I will declare war on stupid people

As someone close to a person diagnosed with clinical depression who has suicidal thoughts. I’ve learnt how strong negativity can roam in their mind and it shapes their opinions on almost everything which can be exhausting to hear on repeat

Telling little girls, “He’s mean to you because he likes you,” teaches them to associate mistreatment with love. That mindset can lay the foundation for accepting abuse later in life.

Ultimately, we need more Muslim mental-health professionals who combine genuine clinical expertise with sound foundations in Aqeedah. That combination would provide a uniquely valuable kind of care for Muslims tested with mental-health difficulties. Because therapy is never entirely worldview-neutral. Beneath its techniques are assumptions about what a human being is, what a good life looks like, where suffering comes from, what desires mean, what should be accepted or resisted, and ultimately what healing itself means. When those underlying assumptions differ from a Muslim’s understanding of Allah, the nafs, the ruh, fitrah, sin, accountability, qadr, sabr and tawakkul, therapy may help at one level while creating tension at another. The therapist may understand the symptoms perfectly while interpreting the person through a framework that does not fully understand him. This is why representation alone is insufficient. A Muslim therapist without sound Islamic foundations may still operate almost entirely within assumptions borrowed from a different conception of the human being. What we need are professionals who can distinguish between what is genuinely psychological, what is spiritual, where the two interact, and when one should not be reduced to the other. Someone clinically competent enough not to spiritualise every illness, and grounded enough in Aqeedah not to psychologise every spiritual struggle. May Allah grant succor to everyone dealing with all forms of mental-health difficulties.

It’s striking how many prominent women have had to deal with domestic violence in their marriages. Onyeka Owenu spoke about it, Ngozi Nwosu once recounted in an interview how her husband beat her and pulled out her hair extensions, taking some of her flesh with them, and Patience Ozokwor has also spoken about being physically abused by her late husband. And these are women whose stories we actually know. I can only imagine how many other women have endured years of physical and emotional abuse in their marriages, suffering in silence because they felt they had no one to turn to, feared the stigma of leaving, or simply didn’t feel safe enough to speak. For every woman whose story became public, there are probably countless others whose stories never will.
“My husband abuse could have killed me, I was going down and my brother called me at some point and said ‘Onyeka, you’re losing yourself’. He never forgave me for walking away from an abusive marriage. And to punish me, he did something that he would answer to God for” ——Onyeka Onwenu

Nigeria: Borno’s Forgotten Children Today, it is 144 days since 42 school children of Askira Uba LGA Borno state were abducted by gunmen. Since their abduction on 15 May 2026, more people have been abducted across the north. No child should go through what children are going through now in Nigeria. Education should not be a matter of life and death for anyone. Nigeria is failing children once again in a horrifying manner. The future of thousands of school children in Northern Nigeria remains bleak as hundreds of schools in some states have been closed indefinitely due to rising insecurity. Many children abandoned education due to the psychological trauma of witnessing violent attacks or living in captivity.  Government of Nigeria must do more to safely and securely rescue all school children in captivity. Suspected perpetrators must be held to account.

Innanillahi Wa inna ilaihir raji’un 💔 Last night there was an attack in Rahusa Estate, Millenium City, where bandits went away with more than four people. These banditry attacks have become a daily routine in Kaduna state, as if there’s no one in charge of the state’s affairs. May God Almighty give us leaders that truly care about the lives and properties of its people.
