She doesn’t have full sensation, but she has some down there and she licked herself raw. Putting a diaper on her was the worst thing I could’ve done. The bacteria in her urine was trapped & attacked her skin. She also has crystals that suggest a phenomenon called FIC (feline idiopathic cystitis). Even though we took away her Pain by taking off her legs there is no cure for Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) or FIC. The nerves do not always talk to the bladder. The bladder loses the ability to function. This causes both infections and crystals. She needs more than antibiotics (already started.) She needs hyperbaric oxygen therapy. She is signed up for five sessions at $115 per trip, starting tomorrow. We will reassess daily with the doctors with additional testing in two weeks when her meds are finished. CES is extremely rare as is a bipedal cat. This is all new to us and we learned a whole bunch today.
