So Lady Warsi has had a go at Douglas Murray. Her charge: that Murray "denigrates our brave men and women", and does it for "pathetic political point scoring". She called it "utter BS", sneered at the Spectator for platforming him, and sniffed that Michael Portillo "just listens and nods". What Murray actually said, on that podcast, was that successive governments have let alleged jihadists settle in Britain while dragging our own soldiers through the courts. The SAS hounded by lawyers. The jihadist handed a council house. She called the defence of the forces an attack on the forces. Which tells you how she argues. She does not hear the point. She hears the tone, checks who is speaking, and reacts. Then out comes the rank. Former cabinet member. Former national security council member. Former foreign minister. Granddaughter of two men who served, family serving today. All true. None of it a policy. The Spectator, incidentally, had her number years ago. Its verdict: the most over-promoted, incapable and incompetent minister of recent times. So when this government goes, and a new lot arrive, they will not be bringing you in. They will be opening your file. Walked out over Gaza and never really stopped. Turned on David Cameron, the only man who ever believed in her. Tore up the Conservative whip and announced her own party had gone "far right". Every interview, every column, every argument, ends in the same place. And it is not here. Disloyal. Ungrateful. Thin-skinned. Always the victim, never the author. And not one of us. She thrashes our side, then borrows our dead to make her case. She holds a seat for life that nobody voted for, and we do not want her in it. The next government won't have your back, Lady Warsi. They will have your file.

As a fellow 35 year old man, I completely agree with @Alexarmstrong. I am not going to die in a trench in the Donbas fighting Russia on behalf of Ukraine. I couldn't give a toss about either country. Neither is worth sacrificing our lives for. Britain has enough problems of its own. Our communities need rebuilding. Our economy needs revitalising. Our public services need fixing. Yet we seem endlessly fixated on conflicts thousands of miles away whilst our own country is falling apart. Britain and the EU have a combined military budget of over £400 billion. The idea we couldn’t dismantle the trafficking networks and enforce our borders is for the birds. The small boats crisis has been allowed to happen because UK and EU elites wanted it to happen. This is a manufactured crisis. OK. Wetherspoons have come out with a poor statement in my opinion trying to connect the refusal of entry to a protest going on up the road away from the premises. This is retrospective awful spin. We’ve all seen the videos The manager/security made it clear. Remove the poppy and you’ll be allowed access. This means the men rejected were not rejected due to poor behaviour nor because they may or may not have attended a protest. They were rejected purely for wearing a poppy. As I say, it was stated if they removed the poppy they’d be granted access. The poppy was the problem not the men. Wetherspoons should just hold their hands up. Apologise and reprimand the senior manager who made that decision. That’s it. We all like spoons. We all know Tim Martin is a proud countryman and we support him. But they need to get the message right on this and not try to gaslight the public.
