Congratulations @WoodpeckersNC, Carolina League Champions! 🏆
The Woodpeckers never lost in the postseason, capping an incredible run with a Carolina League Championship and ending a 70-year championship drought for Fayetteville baseball.
Last month, Labor Commissioner @LukeFarleyNC had the pleasure of meeting some of the players and staff when he threw out the first pitch. It’s great to see this team go on to make history for Fayetteville!

The Carolina Mining Star Program is back!
At the direction of Labor Commissioner @LukeFarleyNC, NCDOL is bringing back the Carolina Mining Star Program to encourage North Carolina mines to reach the highest level of safety and compliance, and to keep raising the bar.
This isn’t just about paperwork. The process includes walking the mine site, talking with workers, and observing their safety practices. It’s about recognizing mines that are committed to going above and beyond, and creating an incentive for others to improve.

Here in North Carolina, Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry directed on September 11 that the American flag be flown over the Labor Building. When she was told the building had no flagpole, she ordered flags to be printed and displayed in every window. Within days, every window of North Carolina Department of Labor buildings across the state displayed an American flag. Fittingly, the very first flag was placed in the window of Commissioner Berry’s office.

On concrete and masonry jobsites, workers can be exposed to serious hazards from falling materials, concrete buckets, equipment, and other moving objects.
Our Struck-By Initiative is focused on helping employers and workers recognize these hazards and prevent injuries before they happen.

Today we remember the 25 lives lost and the workers who were injured in the 1991 Imperial Foods chicken processing plant fire.
Commissioner @LukeFarleyNC joined the community today to honor their memory and speak at the rededication of a monument at the site bearing the names of those who lost their lives.
Their names remain. Their stories remain. And so does our commitment to making sure every worker makes it home safely.
