#WATCH | Mumbai, Maharashtra: On Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) transaction charges for UPI, MD and CEO of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Dilip Asbe, says, "I believe there is huge miscommunication and misinformation in the system. NPCI ecosystem, the government is trying to provide clear information. About 75% of UPI merchants, out of 60 million, have never even seen transactions above 2,000. 80% of the value is going to come back from the credit card-accepting merchants. So if you look at this, 96% of the volume will not touch MDR. 75% of the total UPI value is going to continue to be free. So if you look at this kind of boundary, auto pay has been exempted... It's a pro-expansion policy; it's a pro-poor policy in all aspects we see..."
