StarCraft’s new direction is starting to sound a lot more interesting. Blizzard says the upcoming open-world shooter is being built as a complete, narrative-driven game, not a seasonal live-service experience. You’ll create your own character, explore the world, find better gear and follow a story with an actual beginning, middle and definitive ending. It’s also set around 70 years after StarCraft II, giving Blizzard room to introduce new characters, factions and stories while keeping that dark, gritty StarCraft atmosphere. It’s definitely not the StarCraft III many of us expected, but hearing Blizzard describe it more like a complete boxed game feels surprisingly old school. Now we just have to make it to 2030.
