💡Important concept delineated in this recent NEJM article: ASA may help prevent cancer metastasis.
On that note, in a large NIS database analysis, we found that ASA users had a lower proportion of pt with CRC metastasis compared with non-ASA users (32.50% vs. 43.70%, p<0.001).

Dieulafoy in the proximal stomach. I love the hot biopsy forceps here. Cheap, retroflexes, securely grips the vessel and gives feedback you got the vessel. Plus the stomach can’t take the heat (60W soft coagulation)!

Tirzepitide > Semaglutide for management of obesity in non-diabetics.
Significantly more wt loss with Tirzepitide ✅
But both highly effective ✅✅
What % of these patients in the real world successfully obtain insurance approval though? Cost is definitely a barrier for many.
Tirzepatide and semaglutide are both highly effective for the management of obesity. How the two drugs compare in patients with obesity but without diabetes has been unknown.
Research findings from the SURMOUNT-5 phase 3b trial are summarized in a short video. nej.md/3GqiRm0

Interesting case! Will have to add nitrous oxide induced frostbite injury to my DDx for odynophagia, particularly for patients who recreationally inhale nitrous oxide 🥶
Nitrous oxide is stored as a liquid under ⬆️ pressures in metal canisters -> expands and cools when released.
A 23-year-old man presented with a 2-day history of painful swallowing and hoarseness. The symptoms had started immediately after he had inhaled nitrous oxide through his mouth from a hand-held canister for recreation.
Read the full case details in the Images in Clinical Medicine article “Frostbite Injury from Inhaled Nitrous Oxide Use” from @UVA: nej.md/44aOSI4
