Dear
@elonmusk,
You’ll remember me, Rabbi Shmuley, from our public conversation on Thursday, September 28, 2023, when we participated in a live discussion on X Spaces about antisemitism, Israel, and free speech, alongside
@BenShapiro and other Jewish leaders. Not only did I defend you in that conversation against the fraudulent and disgusting accusations of antisemitism leveled against you, I publicly declared you one of the greatest friends the Jewish people and the State of Israel have had in modern history. I remain your great admirer and defender always.
We also had a powerful public conversation on your channel about large families and the importance of having many children. I applauded your stance then and still do.
On the night of December 1–2, 2024, while assisting with a draft speech for my close friend @robertfkennedyjr I was viciously attacked at the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach by an Islamist antisemite named Faiz Akbar simply for being a public defender of Israel. The video has been watched by millions worldwide, including on X. Hotel security did not protect me. One of them fist-bumped and hugged my attacker and refused to call the police.
When I published the video of the assault, the hotel’s billionaire owner, Jeffrey Soffer, sued me. For nearly two years he has weaponized the American legal system against me, harassing and persecuting me endlessly for speaking out about antisemitism and the attack I suffered.
Now the dispute has reached you. The Fontainebleau has asked the Southern District of Florida to subpoena Grok, OpenAI, and others for all of my AI interactions. I love Grok and use it constantly.
You are the world’s greatest champion of free speech. Would you really hand over users’ private AI conversations to a billionaire litigant? Can you help me—and everyone else who uses AI and is reading this—protect freedom of speech in America?
You have rightly pointed out that people are going to jail in Britain for simple posts on social media. Believe it or not, in my case I was already sanctioned with the denial of a jury trial—my Seventh Amendment right—by federal judge Michael Moore, and magistrate judge Marty Elfenbein. When we challenged Moore’s gag order against me, he was forced to admit that it was in large part unconstitutional, and the next day he resigned inexplicably from the case. But he did not reverse the order. So now I only have a trial that will determine damages. My free speech has been destroyed completely and utterly. I was sanctioned, believe it or not, for something as simple as criticizing the Fontainebleau’s water park.
I have been tortured by a bully billionaire for doing nothing wrong except speaking out against antisemitism and a vicious attack on me as a public defender of Israel.
I need your help. Please.
With love and admiration,
Your friend,
Rabbi Shmuley
