Zia Yusuf styles himself Shadow Home Secretary. He has no right to that title. He is not even a Member of Parliament. The real Shadow Home Secretary is Chris Philp, the Conservative MP appointed by the Leader of the Official Opposition. Yesterday Andrea Jenkyns claimed she signed a landmark trade agreement between Lincolnshire and Taiwan. A mayor has no power to sign international trade deals. Trade policy is reserved to the Westminster government. At best she signed a non binding MOU. This is not politics. This is cosplay. Pure theatre from a party that pretends to be the government it is not.

Nursing home CEO Paul Walczak pocketed the taxes from his workers' paychecks and blew it on a $2M yacht, travel & Cartier. He got 18 months in prison. Then his mom went to a $1M-a-plate Trump dinner. 3 weeks later: FULL pardon. This is the most corrupt White House in US history.

Neville Chamberlain has found his modern successor, at least in the historical warning now being sounded by one of America’s most distinguished generals. Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Wesley Clark warns that Trump may be prepared to sacrifice Ukraine in exchange for Putin’s cooperation on Iran. He compares the possibility to Munich in 1938, when Britain and France handed Hitler the Sudetenland in the hope of securing peace. Clark calls the potential bargain “very, very corrupt, dangerous”. His warning comes as Washington eases Russian sanctions and delays vital military support for Ukraine. The historical parallel is unmistakable: Neville Chamberlain believed concessions could buy peace. Clark fears Trump may be contemplating the same mistake, with Ukraine paying the price.
Former NATO commander Wesley Clark accused Trump of potentially sacrificing Ukraine to secure Putin’s cooperation on Iran, comparing the possible deal to the 1938 Munich Agreement, when Hitler was appeased after invading Czechoslovakia. kyivpost.com/post/87558

Thames Water is borrowing £2.4bn at 10% interest so it can keep funding dividends, even though bosses know it won't be able to repay the money when the company goes tits up. This is corrupt and the government should make it clear that taxpayers won't pick up the tab.

If capitalism is so great, why do corporations need tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, bailouts, legal protections, and trade barriers to survive? And when ordinary people ask for help, why is it suddenly called socialism?

2020: Matt Hancock, "Right from the start we've tried to throw a protective ring around our care homes" 2026: Baroness Hallett, "The claim that a so called protective ring has be thrown around care homes right from the start was unfounded. Quite the opposite is true. The adult social care sector as a whole, appeared to be something of an after thought" My view: Matt Hancock said the government had tried to throw a “protective ring” around care homes. He repeated the claim in Parliament. Nadhim Zahawi later publicly backed it, while Boris Johnson defended the government’s handling when challenged. Now Baroness Hallett’s inquiry has rejected the claim as unfounded: care homes were not protected from the start; adult social care was treated as an afterthought. This was more than a failure of words. Patients were discharged from hospitals into care homes without routine testing, and care homes were not advised to isolate those arrivals. Staff faced shortages of PPE and testing, while residents and families bore the consequences. The inquiry describes a system that failed to plan for the risks and failed to put care homes at the centre of its response. What we saw was a collective failure—a collaboration of incompetence at the expense of life. The phrase “protective ring” offered reassurance while the protections people needed were missing. Thousands of families were left grieving, and care workers were left trying to cope with the consequences. Those responsible should face the findings honestly, explain how this happened and make sure the lessons lead to change. But the question remains, why is there almost no accountability for the actions government ministers took during covid?

A brief review of recent technical “errors” at Meta: 1. Restricting the Facebook pages of Brazilian president Lula who is in a runoff election against a Trump-favored candidate 2. Shutting down the pages of Albanians protesting Jared Kushner’s plans to build a luxury resort in the country 3. Rejecting ads for a documentary critical of Elon Musk 4. Shutting down the No Kings instagram page in the middle of a major anti-Trump protest

This is just strange. Trump stops and begins to wave. The camera man zooms out to reveal there is nobody in the direction he is waving, as his aides come from a different direction. Who does he think he sees?

"Burnham urges officials to come up with more radical options for Thames Water." Well done Andy Burnham @andyburnham There are ultimately just two answers to Thames Water, put the company into Special Administration and restructure - refinance it or give in to the demands of the New York vulture capitalists exposing tax payers and bill payers to yet more decades of exploitation. The latter of course is unacceptable. theguardian.com/politics/202…

Well after today’s announcement from the Bank of England, there is something very, very, very wrong in the system. So … let me get this straight: * British Gas made a profit of £1.3bn between January & June * BP announced profits of £6.95 billion between April and June alone * Shell has profited by £9.4bn in a year The MEN at the top: * John Pettigrew, boss of National Grid received £6.5m bonus on top of his salary * Chris O’Shea, chief executive of British Gas owner Centrica was paid almost £2m last year in salary and benefits * Centrica's non-executive directors were paid almost £1m * Scottish Power's CEO Keith Anderson is on £1.15m. * E.On boss Michael Lewis is on £1m * EDF's Simone Rossi is also on £1m * And their top execs enjoyed a share of £4.65m * Peter Simpson of Anglian Water earned a £1.3m pay package * Welsh Water bosses awarded themselves bonuses of over £930,000 * Severn Trent bosses awarded themselves bonuses of £5.56m * Thames Water's Sarah Bentley, received a £727,000 bonus on top of her £2m annual salary Meanwhile there are... * People who haven't had breakfast and/or lunch TODAY, because they can't afford it. * People using FoodBanks because food is becoming more of a luxury than a necessity. * Children celebrating a birthday without presents. * Parents worrying about new school uniforms - and some schools enforcing rules which are not cost-effective. * People who can't get to work because they can't afford to put petrol in their cars/pay for public transport anymore. * People who are working so much they're making themselves ill, and they STILL CAN'T AFFORD to pay their bills. * People who have been given fines by these same energy/water companies because they couldn't afford to pay their bills in the first place - increasing their debt. * Customers being told to do STAR JUMPS TO KEEP WARM for crying out loud! * Hose pipe bans when gallons of water leak away everyday. * Elderly people NOT DRINKING because they're worried about running out of water!!! All this and energy prices are set to rise up to 75% in October... THIS IS MADNESS!.. I'm all for supporting profits … I'm not for supporting greed at the cost of lives of others. Something needs to change. Why is customers' money being used to make life more comfortable for those who are making life more intolerable for the rest of us? I actually don't understand how the energy companies are allowed to get away with this and why the government aren't stopping them instead of handing out money.....

"Anglian Water fined £1.6M for polluting River Brain in Essex." Over the last 15 years Anglian Water has been found guilty of 79 different environmental offences and already paid almost £5 million in fines. Has any of it made any difference whatsoever? Of course not. Perhaps later this morning the @CommonsEFRA would like to ask the polluters why. newcivilengineer.com/latest/…

Has Lincolnshire declared independence from the UK? I think we should know. Is this another Tory 'memorandum of understanding' that means absolutely nothing in the real world. I'm sure it won't make up for the losses due to Brexit. Reform are just failed Tory liars.
