Build homes, yes. But build the right homes, in the right places, with the infrastructure to support them.
Planning should serve communities, not simply hit numbers.

I’m reposting my Senedd speech today because this latest child sexual exploitation case in North Wales is a stark reminder that accountability cannot end with the perpetrators.
We must ask what institutions knew, when they knew it, and whether opportunities to protect children were missed.
That is why I demanded in the Chamber: Open the books. Open the records.
Accountability cannot stop at the courtroom door.

But knowing what I know about policing, “we are investigating ourselves”, simply will not do.
@ICOnews must be given full, unfettered access: the systems, the evidence, the decisions and the people responsible.
Public accountability means opening the doors, not closing ranks.
Cyber security and the protection of personal information should never be taken lightly.
Following the cyber incident involving Dyfed-Powys Police, there are still important questions around what happened, whether any staff information has been compromised and what measures are being put in place to prevent this happening again.
It is also vital that the investigation establishes who was responsible and how the incident was able to happen.
Those working on the frontline deserve reassurance that their personal information is safe, and the public deserve confidence in the systems protecting our emergency services.
I’ll continue to seek answers and push for the transparency and accountability that is needed.

Our answer is fundamentally different: Welsh communities must come first.
An asylum claim is a claim awaiting determination. It does not retrospectively make an illegal route of entry legal.

A few weeks ago, @CristianaEmsley MS and I visited Airbus Broughton. What a fantastic facility and right here in Fflint Wrecsam Constituency!
The announcement of a £150m investment and around 480 new jobs this year are brilliant news for Flintshire and North Wales.
Many of my family have been or are employed at the facility. Beyond employment, Airbus do so much for the community here, including having great sports facilities… and, amongst other things, a super walking football team, whom I’ve played for once or twice, so thank you Airbus for all you do for this area.

We need a national overhaul of all sentencing that remembers why male violence toward women, girls and all children, should be punished appropriately and why women and children matter.
For years now, Labour have forgotten to pretend to care about that and think there will be no political consequences.
A 14-year-old boy repeatedly stabbed a 14-year-old girl with a kitchen knife because she wouldn’t date him.
He didn’t go to prison.
She now says she’s scared wherever she goes. As the mother of a 14-year-old girl, this makes me so angry. Where is the justice for her?
Rehabilitation matters, but so do consequences. So does protecting the victim. So does protecting the next girl. Detention as a “last resort” cannot mean “no serious consequence” for serious crimes.
Sentencing isn’t only about the offender. It’s about the victim. It’s about protecting the next potential victim. And it’s about making absolutely clear where society draws the line.
Our youth sentencing laws need an overhaul.
This isn’t shoplifting. This isn’t a stupid teenage mistake. This was a girl being repeatedly stabbed because she said no.
Serious crimes need serious consequences. Being under 18 cannot be a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Senedd debate: Common Sense creating Common Ground
Yesterday saw a rare moment of unity between @Plaid_Cymru, @reformparty_uk and @WelshConservatives.
Green Party leader Anthony Slaughter (he/him) introduced a 30-minute Senedd debate yesterday on the @NWJCC pause in ‘gender’ surgeries for Welsh patients - that’s double mastectomies, castratations, and creations of pseudo genitalia for those who aren’t in the know.
Five fellow Senedd members spoke: Sarah Rees and Matthew Thomas from Plaid Cymru, Conservative Natasha Asghar, and Reform's Cristiana Emsley and Jo Martin. Mabon ap Gwynfor responded on behalf of the Welsh government.
While @sarahrees500 and @MatthewTorfaend echoed Slaughter's unsubstantiated claims about "life-saving surgery" and targeting of the ‘trans community’, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Care, @mabonapgwyn, backed points made by @natasghar and @CristianaEmsley that decisions on irreversible surgery demand uncompromised diagnostic certainty and rigorous patient safeguarding above all else.

It was an opportunity to hear directly from farmers about their experiences and the importance of farming to Wales. As you know I have huge respect for farmers and what they do to put food on our tables. Their voices belong at the heart of decisions which affect our countryside and our food supply.
