A very good read on how China is approaching AI, and what it seeks to gain from it.
But to be fair, beneath the flags, the US and China are behaving a lot alike when it comes to AI.
One big problem for China, especially, is that its quick wins in AI may ultimately set it up for a long-term trap. It’s easy to miss the forest when you’re zoomed in on the trees.

I'm onside with @mustafasuleyman here, though I would add a little nuance. We can't be 💯 certain since nobody knows the necessary or sufficient conditions for consciousness. But IMO both theory and evidence point to 'conscious AI' being vanishingly unlikely - and there are many dangers in building AI systems that seem to be conscious.
