For me, my "Apartment Lift Indicator" is a great proxy for what's looming on the horizon. When I see hyper-targeted ads for high-risk assets on one wall and leveraged multi-crore payment schemes on the other, it proves market is peaking — and holding liquid safe money is more critical than ever.
The future has always been uncertain.
Even the relative certainty we once had is undergoing huge disruption because of deglobalisation, geopolitical conflicts, AI, shrinking employment opportunities, and so on.
As I keep repeating, ensure you have not less than three years of lifestyle expenses as safe money.
Completely avoid any long term commitment in real estate for now. Buying a house on EMI can wait a few years until better clarity emerges about the future.
Investing in stocks or mutual funds should be done only after you have this safe money.
Humanity has always found a way out of challenges.
So this too shall pass.
Until the current scenario lasts, safe money provides peace of mind, confidence for the family, and most importantly the room to prepare for a newer set of opportunities.

Reading Man's Search for Meaning pulled me back to World War II.
Earlier this year, I visited Hiroshima — a city wiped out by a nuclear bomb. The A-Bomb Dome stood closest to the center of the explosion and somehow remained partially standing. 🤔
What struck me most: the Japanese rebuilt a city flattened by a nuclear bomb into a world-class city in a remarkably short span of time. 🫡
But why Hiroshima was bombed, and not bigger cities such Kyoto or Tokyo?

A massive reminder to keep your online transactions toggled OFF on your banking app when you are not using them.
I just swiped my credit card at a physical POS terminal, and minutes later, someone attempted a fraudulent online purchase.
Thankfully, having online transactions disabled saved me from getting scammed. Stay vigilant, everyone.
