I'm interested in dipping my toes in because I do not want to buy a physical copy of every book for my reading lists. Trying to decide between a Kobo and a Kindle, also wondering if it's better to just get used/refurbished.

These kinds of posts annoy me because:
A. This person is in the Philippines, we are talking about a Filipino master's degree. There are a ton of great scholars in the world, but there is a difference in standards and using a master's thesis from the Philippines to make a commentary on American academia is ridiculous
B. A master's thesis is not meant to fill a research gap or to even be *that* serious a work of scholarship. It's a competency test that isn't peer-reviewed. It's not even meant to equal a doctoral dissertation, let alone fucking Adorno or Fredric Jameson. Get over yourself.

It's a boring and cheap dunk to look at a master's thesis from across the world and talk about it. Open up an academic journal and read their latest articles and talk about that. That's the state of academia, and there's so much to criticize!

I don't care. The humanities makes me happy. I will continue being in the humanities until the day I die because it is one of the only things that makes me truly happy.

Any modernist literature recommendations? I've basically fully trodden over Pirandello and touched on Proust and Joyce. I was thinking either Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway or Svevo's Zeno's Conscience next.
Anyone have any other novel or short story recommendations?
