I want to ask the students screaming “Death to America”, do you have any idea what happens when American values die? Because I do. My family fled Iran, a country where freedom died. You don’t know what you have until it’s gone. You think America is oppressive because you have never experienced real oppression. You think silence is violence because you’ve never been silenced. You think words are dangerous because you have never watched a government drag someone away for speaking them. You think capitalism is evil because you have never stood in a bread line. You think borders are immoral because you have never had to flee across one. You think revolution is romantic because you have never had a revolution take everything from you. I have. And that’s why I refuse to be quiet.

There’s a reason we are seeing a decline in the kind of representation described here, presuming this report is accurate and not an SPLC-style “study.” The public’s patience is running thin for the constant stream of propaganda forced upon it over the past near decade. It’s a pity – – prior to the Marxists’ overconfident bet on our willingness to submit to their various social manifestos, we were all in on stories that logically include characters from the margins of the mainstream. But once it was forced at the expense of good storytelling and with no concern to the public’s appetite, entertainment consumers voted with their ticket buying and their streaming choices, and the studios, who were only ever in it for profit, listened. And yet, the Marxists have not given up. Supergirl is one most recent example, and Nolan’s Odyssey will bear bitter fruit for its bottom line, I think. It’s a pity: before entertainment became just another issue of Pravda, the American scene as told in stories was richly diverse. Now, viewers brace themselves, and turn the channel when they don’t like what they see. This was an opportunity lost for our society. Story was carrying our culture forward until it was polluted and poisoned. There is still a chance for return, however. Profit margins will serve as the chief driver for this – – tell good stories, and the people will pay to see them; reason enough to return to the craft as it has existed from the Greeks on forward. hollywoodreporter.com/movies…
