@Arch docs, I realized thereโs more to it.
So letโs break down ๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐๐๐.
archUSD is the dollar the Arch ecosystem runs on, issued by Arch Network and backed one-for-one by liquid USDC held in custody at BitGo and Copper.
But the interesting part isn't just the backing.
Through Arch Prime, native BTC can be used as collateral to borrow against. The resulting debt is denominated in archUSD.
Now, hereโs a detail that caught my attention: ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐๐๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ฌ๐ง'๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ฒ ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐. The docs describe it as changing the form of an existing dollar into archUSD. So the amount of archUSD in circulation shouldn't be treated as a measure of how much lending capacity the system has.
And another important distinction: Holding archUSD doesn't mean you're automatically earning a return.
So if archUSD is the dollar the Arch ecosystem runs on,
That leads us to Prime Dollar, same ecosystem, different role.
