This is Patriarchy and its Rape Culture. The Courts are complicit in rape and Rape Culture when they rule like this. We are not safe when courts let rapists walk.

The Helsinki Court of Appeal has cleared three men who raped a heavily intoxicated 17-year-old girl in a wooded area in Finland. The girl was so drunk that she had actually been taken to the hospital for intoxication just before the assault. The three men then raped her in the woods right outside the hospital. Both the District Court and the Court of Appeal completely dismissed all charges and let the men walk free without any convictions. Judges ruled that despite her severe intoxication, CCTV footage showed she was still legally capable of forming and expressing consent. The court decided that the men could have believed the teenager was agreeing to having sex, ultimately freeing them from all criminal responsibility. It is completely fucked up that a court thinks a teenager drunk enough to need a hospital is somehow sober enough to consent to three grown men. Being drunk does not mean consent. Not saying no does not mean consent. If someone is too intoxicated to care for themselves, they cannot give real consent, period.

Remember when the Panama Papers came out, revealed that all rich people in the world are part of enormous criminal network to dodge taxes and hoard stolen wealth in offshore accounts, and the journalist who reported was murdered by a car bomb, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened. Remember that there are 3 million files of documented evidence about powerful men and women who raped, cannibalized, trafficked, filmed, terrorized, tortured, hunted, and murdered 13, 14, 15 year children, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened. Remember that the United States literally kidnapped a sitting president of a foreign country and his wife and they’ve just been sitting in jail for the past 6 months, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened. Remember that there are two genocides—one in Gaza and the other in Lebanon—and that there are arrest warrants for war crimes and crimes against humanity, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened. This is what will happen—and continue to happen—if we do not unite to enforce international law.

That number is clearly higher than 60% and I know the as a fact. Most victims-survivors DO NOT report for a range of reasons, including fear, shame, embarrassment, being accused of fabricating things, etc. Survivors deserve better treatment. And if you've ever gone after a survivor or protected a criminal rapist, you are no better than the person who committed rape against someone. We have to stop protecting criminals. We know what we are doing and the harmful impacts this has on marginalized individuals and communities. Rape is a heinous crime which I refuse to ever condone nor will ever associate with anyone who is a rapist, criminal or rape apologist. You will simply be called out. Truthfully, we can do better as human psychology says that people know exactly what they are saying and doing. They choose to engage in spiteful, manipulative, and intimidatory behaviors, and that merely is a reflection of who that person is and an exposure of their guilty conscience.

In fact, European Jews are coddled in Canadian society. They are treated as a special group of survivors while Black and First Nations people are ignored and sidelined. Black and Indigenous people face the most racism and discrimination in Canada. Theirs is just over reported.
