He was perhaps the most underrated RB (and maybe player ) in NFL history. Just IMO...speed, power, toughness. Yet he never gets mentioned in the RB GOAT conversations.

He was a joy to watch in person and was THE catalyst for launching the Oilers out of football mediocrity. There was a lot of talent on those Oiler teams from ‘75 to ‘81… and very good coaches. Earl made the difference.

Saw him play on a cold thanksgiving day in Dallas. He made one of the most incredible touchdown runs I’ve ever seen. About 80 yards and every Dallas defender had a shot at him. Initially looked like stopped for no gain
