Given the chance, that young leader, Othniel, succeeded and brought 40 years of peace to the land. Furthermore, when Caleb's daughter faced a barren future and asked for help, he generously provided her with abundant springs of water, becoming her greatest supporter. This story taught me a profound truth about how the world truly moves forward. Life is not a solo act where we must be the star of every scene. We are links in a chain, bridging the past and the future. Admitting that we are not the ultimate "main character" might sound like losing control, but it’s actually incredibly liberating. Just as wealth and honor naturally follow when you provide genuine value to society, embracing our role in the cycle of generations brings a much deeper sense of fulfillment and peace. Once we achieve a certain level of success, our subsequent and most beautiful duty is to raise the next generation. It is about letting go of the greed to build an untouchable legacy solely in our own lifetime. It is about having children and giving them the foundation to dream bigger than we did. In a broader sense, it means mentoring the juniors in our communities and stepping back so they can shine. Perhaps the truest sign of adulthood—and our greatest possible achievement—is not remaining the main character forever, but willingly stepping into a supporting role so the next generation can take the stage. In this context, I often think that #Bitcoin is perhaps the only form of money that truly aligns with this timeless biblical teaching, as it enables the flawless transfer of value across generations. It ensures that the value we work so hard to accumulate in our lifetime isn't diluted by the system, but remains intact to serve as a solid foundation for the next generation's stage. LLM도, 비트코인도, 리워드도. 내가 설명한 내용은 그분의 생각을 바꾸는 데 아무런 영향을 주지 못했다. 그러고 보니 새삼스러운 일도 아니다. 그분은 원래 그런 분이었다. 자신의 판단에 대한 확신이 강하고, 다른 사람의 의견을 쉽게 받아들이지 않는다. 그런데도 나는 또 무언가를 설명하고 있었다. 내가 오랫동안 공부하고 고민해온 것들을, 그분도 한 번쯤은 진지하게 들어주기를 바랐던 것 같다. 하지만 그분에게 나는 그 정도의 신뢰를 주는 사람이 아니었던 모양이다. 나라는 존재가 그분에게는 그 정도 신뢰밖에 주지 못한다는 걸, 또 한 번 느낀 하루였다. 그 분은 돈 많다. 돈 없는 내가 할 소린 아닌듯.

작년 한 해에만 초중고생 243명이 스스로 목숨을 끊었다. 기가 막힌 건, 그중 10명 중 8명은 죽기 전에 살려달라고 주변에 계속 '사전 신호'를 보냈다는 사실이다. 통계를 뜯어보면 결국 '가정 문제'가 압도적 1위다. 애들이 왜 집에서 절망을 느낄까? 최근 EBS 다큐를 보는데 가슴이 미어졌다. 맞벌이 부모 밑에서 자란 청년이 그러더라. 어릴 땐 엄마 아빠 빈자리가 너무 외롭고 갈구했는데, 중학교 가니까 그 빈자리가 그냥 '익숙'해져 버렸다고. 나중엔 부모가 옆에 와도 잔소리로만 들리고, 내 편이라는 느낌이 안 들었다고 한다. 초등학교 4학년 땐 다들 인생에서 '가족'이 제일 중요하다고 하던 애들이, 중3만 되면 '돈'이 최고라고 말을 바꾼다 . 부모가 밖에서 돈 버느라 정작 자기는 맨날 텅 빈 집에서 외롭게 학원 뺑뺑이나 돌았으니 애들 머릿속엔 "나를 지켜주는 건 가족이 아니라 결국 돈이구나"라는 서글픈 공식이 박혀버리는 거다. 애들을 그냥 놔두면 '알아서' 자랄 거라고 착각하지 말자 . 그 시간 동안 아이들의 영혼은 외로움에 바싹 말라 죽어간다 나 역시 교수가 되려고 정말 치열하게 공부했었고 지방에 정교수가 되었지만 야간 수업까지 뛰느라 정신없이 살다가 이 악순환을 끊으려고 결국 자리를 내려놓았었다. 경력 단절? 아쉽지 않다면 거짓말이다. 하지만 집에 온기가 없으면 애들은 겉만 멀쩡할 뿐 속은 텅 빈 껍데기로 자란다. 아이를 외롭게 만들면서까지 벌어오는 돈과 자아실현이 과연 무슨 소용이 있을까. 너무 극단적인 생각 같다고? 그러니까 애를 안 낳는 거다. 나라에서는 맨날 저출생 국가 소멸이라며 호들갑을 떨면서, 정작 사표 던지고 나와 아이를 직접 키워낸 부모에게는 아무런 우대도 보상도 없다. 왜 이 위대한 노동이 '경력 단절'이라는 무서운 말로 지워져야 하는가. 파격적인 우대를 해줘라. 해외 선진국처럼 육아를 국가적 필수 경력으로 인정해라. 아이 1명당 최소 5년이라도 부모의 이력서에 '공백'이 아닌 '경력'으로 당당히 적을 수 있게 제도를 바꿔야 한다. 육아를 '경력 단절'이 아닌 '경력 인정'으로 바라봐 줄 때, 비로소 부모들도 당당하게 집에 온기를 채울 수 있고 아이들도 외롭지 않게 자랄 수 있다. 육아의 가치를 진짜 경력으로 대접해라. 여하튼 아이들 ㅈㅅ만큼은 막아야한다. 우울감 등 말하기 어려운 고민이 있거나 주변에 이런 어려움을 겪는 가족ㆍ지인이 있을 경우 자살예방 상담전화 ☎109에서 24시간 전문가의 상담을 받을 수 있다.
