Just lost $2,850 by clicking a Uniswap link that came up first in Google search results.
I know exactly how this would work. I know that Uniswap phishing links exist and that they show up on Google. But I still clicked this one, signed a transaction, and lost money.
I was just in a hurry, busy with life, made a mistake due to oversight, and lost money in an instant.
It makes me think - these are the challenges normies still face in 2026 when trying to access crypto specially in emerging markets.
In emerging markets, you can’t trust CEXs because they have really poor security infra and they share your data with governments. You can’t use decentralised infrastructure because self-custody is still too complex for the average normie. One bad Google search is all it takes for someone to completely lose their funds.
It makes me reflect on exactly why we are building the P2P Ecosystem - so the average person in emerging markets doesn’t have to depend on CEXs, while still being able to stay safe and maintain self-custody getting an experience as easy as a CEX.
Lost $2,850 to once again remind myself how important it is to build what we are building - this money lost is worth the realisation 🫡
