Why do the Nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

Yom Kippur points beyond merely covering sin—it points to the LORD’s final judgment, when sin and those who persist in it will be dealt with completely. The question isn’t whether we’ve sinned. It’s whether we have been reconciled to Him.

“Son of man, confront Zion with her abominations. Speak to her: This is what the Sovereign LORD says—You are of Canaanite birth; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. On the day you were born, no one cared for you. Your cord was not cut, you were not washed or cleansed, nor wrapped with care. No eye looked on you with compassion. There I will require your offerings and your choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices. I will accept you as fragrant incense when I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will be proved holy through you in the sight of the nations. Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land I had sworn with uplifted hand to give to your ancestors.’

Who exactly are the “imposters” you keep talking about? You call the Jews in Israel imposters, yet Scripture makes it clear that Israel remains chosen for His name’s sake. And instead of glorifying His name and bearing witness to His Word, you dishonor it. You rebuke the very people He has preserved for the purpose of glorifying His name. The LORD makes this clear—and every stage of Israel’s history testifies to it. In Egypt, though they rebelled and clung to idols, He declared judgment—but for the sake of His name He brought them out, so it would not be profaned among the nations. In the wilderness, though they rejected His statutes and defiled His Sabbaths, He again declared destruction—but for the sake of His name He restrained His wrath before the nations who had seen His deliverance. Looking ahead, though they walk in the unfaithfulness of their fathers and desire to be like the nations, He says it will never be so—for His name’s sake He will reign over them with a mighty hand, bringing them into the wilderness of the nations and executing judgment face to face. Yet even then, the purpose remains His name. Though He gives them over to their idols for a time, afterward they will listen and no longer profane His holy name. Then, for the sake of His name, He will gather them again—bringing them back from the nations into the land He swore to their fathers. There, on His holy mountain, He will accept them; their offerings will be pleasing to Him, and they will be to Him as a fragrant incense. And through them, in the sight of the nations, He will prove Himself holy. From Egypt, to the wilderness, to judgment, to restoration—the pattern is unbroken: He acts. He judges. He preserves. He restores. And He is glorified for the sake of His name. Perhaps the issue isn’t that Israel is an “imposter.” Perhaps the issue is that you have failed to recognize what the LORD repeatedly said He would do for the sake of His own name.
