A woman was murdered last night with an axe by a "British National". "AXE ATTACK: One woman dead as ‘terror team’ descend on picturesque seaside town A woman has died and a male has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a major incident in the normally quiet seaside town of Dartmouth. Police and paramedics were called to Newcomen Road at around 9.20pm last night following reports of a male creating a disturbance at a property. Plymouth Plus can reveal that a specialist Marauding Terrorist Attack team was deployed to the scene. Some people have been evacuated from their homes and have still not been able to return. A National Inter-agency Liaison Officer (NILO) was also deployed. NILOs are specially trained fire officers who coordinate emergency service responses high-risk incidents, including terrorism and marauding attacks. Despite the specialist response, police have stressed that the incident is NOT being treated as terrorism and there is nothing to suggest a wider threat to the public. A woman in her 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. A male in his 40s was taken to hospital with facial injuries which are not believed to be life-changing. A local male in his 30s, who police have confirmed is a British national, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. We are appalled by reports that MEP Rima Hassan knocked down the Israeli and European flags displayed at the European Parliament as part of an exhibition honouring the victims and hostages of the October 7 massacre. If confirmed, this goes far beyond political disagreement or provocation. These flags formed part of a memorial to the victims of the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and to those abducted by Hamas. To deliberately interfere with such a memorial, on the eve of the anniversary of the attacks, would show a profound contempt for their memory and for the suffering of their families. That such an incident is alleged to have taken place inside the European Parliament makes it all the more serious. We call on the Parliament to establish exactly what happened, make the relevant evidence public and, if the allegations are confirmed, take appropriate disciplinary action. The victims of October 7 and the hostages deserve dignity and respect. Their memory must never become a target for political provocation.
