🔥Section 205G defines a SOCK PUPPET as a "false or fictitious identify"
🔥Section 205J empowers the eSafety Commissioner to assume ‘sock pocket identities’ for the "purpose of performing the Commissioner’s functions …. under this Act"
🔥Section 166B (1)(f) states ’The Functions of Commissioner’ include, "to… conduct… promotional…. programs that are relevant to the online safety for Australians”. That could be anything.
🔥Further, section 166B(1) (u) extents the powers of the eSafety Commissioner even further - "to do ANYTHING incidental to or conductive to the performance of any" of her functions.
This gives the eSafety Commissioner almost unlimited discretion in creating sock puppet accounts for any reason to peddle propaganda.
Except for the police attempting to disrupt terrorism or serious crime - no government official should have such wide powers to create fake accounts.
And the eSafety Commissioner has demonstrated time and time again with her anti-free speech zealotry that she is an unfit person, and cannot be trusted with such powers to create fake and fictitious identities.
Here is @AnikaWells brazenly lying about the fake accounts ("sock puppets") provision of the law:
She says, "Well, there is nowhere in the bill that gives the government, and by the government, in this instance, the independent regulator, that power. It's just not there."
Yes, it is there, as anyone who reads the bill can see. I'll paste it again below.
