We're enabling robots to build so that humans can create.

You can't reshore what you can't staff. The barrier to rebuilding American manufacturing dominance is the welder shortage decades in the making. We built Physical AI to close that gap: robots that see, reason, and learn while building, not just repeat. This is the Path Robotics story. piped.video/watch?v=cI1Xawnf…

A weld seam spec'd at 3/16" arrives at the station anywhere from ⅛" to ¼". A 45° bevel drifts between 40° and 50° across its length. A skilled welder scans the joint, adjusts, and executes without thinking twice. A traditional welding robot fails. That's why shipbuilding, heavy equipment, and structural steel stayed manual for 60 years, not because they didn't want automation, but because automation couldn't do the job. That's changed. New on the blog: how AI-driven welding is reaching the industries automation left behind. Link in comments. What's the most "un-automatable" part in your shop? path-robotics.com/blog/the-i…

#Actuate2026 @PathRobotics and @matter_vp are hosting a low-key breakfast the next morning: coffee, food from Hilda & Jesse, and a chance to keep talking shop with the people you just spent two days with. No agenda, no pitches. Just a good excuse to compare notes on where robotics is headed, catch up with the Path team, and meet a few more people building in the physical world. Space is limited and registration needs approval, so request your spot early. luma.com/mattervp-854j

I try not to bring LinkedIn to X but this such a huge leap for @PathRobotics A lot of startups choose SF, Austin, NY, or something similar when it comes to building. As a born and raised Ohio native I love that we chose to plant our flag in Columbus and build here.
Path has signed a $600M+ agreement with @wearehii (part of the $900M HII HYPR project). When I started Path eight years ago, I believed AI and robotics could give the world abundant skilled labor, helping people build the things that matter. Stronger infrastructure. A revitalized industrial base. The ships, factories, and critical systems our country depends on. Today is a major step toward that vision. In this agreement we'll deliver not only welding, but also dexterous assembly, enabling raw components to be turning into finished products. Unlocking throughput that was previously impossible, and unthinkable, without physical AI. Path was never just a welding company. The goal was always physical AI for all manufacturing and excited to take that next step at scale. Time to keep building.

Rebuilding America's shipbuilding capacity is a national priority. And the Navy can't afford to wait. Today, Path Robotics announced a landmark $900 million deal with @WeAreHII and @GrayMatterRobot to help close that gap and transform U.S. shipbuilding with physical AI. As a part of the agreement, HII intends to award Path Robotics up to $600 million as the companies work together to expand production capacity across America's shipyards. We're proud to be helping shape the future of American shipbuilding through physical AI. Read the full story below. path-robotics.com/news/hii-s…

Scan. Plan. Weld. Before the arc starts, Obsidian generates a sub-millimeter point cloud of the seam, capturing root opening, bevel angle, and variation along the joint. Then it plans the passes, sets the parameters, and welds. No perfect fit-up required. No reprogramming between parts.

Another day, another welding robot. But this time, it's a dog, a welding dog. @PathRobotics has developed Rove, a welding robot mounted on a quadruped. It runs Obsidian, Path's welding model, in a four-step loop: walk to predefined locations, scan the seam geometry, adjust welding parameters in real time, weld with data capture and heat-distortion compensation. The targeted jobs are welding on things too big or immovable to bring to a cell. 50 units of this robot will ship in 2027, and even though I am excited to see it in action, so many questions remain: - which quadruped it uses and who makes it? - pricing? - welding process? - duty cycle? - how much human oversight it needs? Also worth mentioning: Path partners with Huntington Ingalls, the largest military shipbuilding company in the United States. Path raised a $100M Series D that includes Taiwania Capital and MediaTek; foreign ownership of a defense-adjacent company alway raises. And it could become a serious issue in case Taiwan's sovereignty gets threatened by its larger neighbor.

You plug him in, and he goes brrrr. Most of these are going into shipyards that have welders and gas everywhere. So you'd bring Rove to an area, hook him up, and he can work within a 30-foot radius for as long as he needs to.

America is running out of welders. By 2035, we’ll lose 43% of America's welding workforce. @PathRobotics is building robots to fill the gap. On episode 75, S3 went through Path's weld school and captured their journey from a $300K bet with their first customer to speaking before Congress.

Tomorrow, Obsidian hits the Automate Show floor. For years, Obsidian, Path Robotics' physical AI for manufacturing, lived inside welding cells. Trained on tens of millions of welded inches. Now it walks. Rove is the mobile embodiment of Obsidian. Come see it live at Booth 3431, South Hall, June 22–25.
