Our government is leading the largest expansion of medical education in over a decade. This includes adding 340 undergraduate and 551 postgraduate seats - a 67% increase - and opening two new medical schools that will support the next generation of Ontario's physician workforce.

Today, applications open for the Medical Education stream of the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant! Backed by a $220M investment, we’re covering the educational costs of more than 2,000 future family doctors who agree to practice in Ontario after graduation. Since 2023, our government has invested over $182M in OLSG to cover the cost of education for more than 13,300 future nurses, paramedics and medical lab techs who study and work in the regions of Ontario that need them most. It was a privilege to be in Parry Sound to celebrate the naming of the new Francis Pegahmagabow Elementary School, honouring a remarkable Anishinaabe leader, decorated First World War veteran and proud member of Wasauksing First Nation. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout from the community and to mark this special occasion alongside members of the Pegahmagabow family, students, educators and staff. I wish everyone at Francis Pegahmagabow Elementary School every success as they learn and grow.
